Good morning!

How's everyone on this Monday?

I'm exhausted.  Pepo (boy kitten) wanted to sleep with us last night and decided that 4:30am was a great time to chew on my hair loudly.  I could have slept through it since I couldn't really feel it (he didn't pull my hair), but the noise was obnoxious.

Re: Good morning!

  • Good Morning!  I can totally hear that noise in my head right now and that would drive me insane!  How was your weekend?

We went to this hall of fame dinner at T's high school on Saturday.  One of his teammates was being inducted so we went to support him.  That was nice to get away for a little bit.  Then yesterday we went to T's soccer game and they lost, so then I got to hear about them losing for at least 2 hours afterward.

Oh and it took me for freakin ever but I finally found Chinese 5 spice so I was able to make this recipe I had been stalking for a while.  It turned out pretty good.  That's 4 new recipes I ended up making last week, I would consider 3 of the 4 a success.  The last was edible, totally fine but not what I was going for at all.
  • The weekend is never enough.  But when we get a 3 day weekend, H wants to go out of town, so we end up still not getting anything done.  Sigh.
  • Ours is a siren and it's sooooo loud.  If you open the front door it says "armed" like 4 times before it goes off so you have time to turn it off but if you open the back door it doesn't warn you, just goes off after like 10 seconds.  I hate that.  It's so loud and you can't turn it off.  You just have to wait it out until the operator comes on the loud speaker and give her a password and then they reset it.  Annoying, but I guess effective if we ever really have to use it.

Yesterday I made this Asian shredded pork and mushrooms over rice.  It was tasty.  My pork roast thing was way too big though.  I ended up only using like half of the pork that I cooked.  I guess next time I should read better.  I bought a 5 pound thing and it only called for 2 pounds.  Whoops.
  • Yup, that's the one!
  • Morning Eeners. I'm utterly exhausted.

Our cat decided to tease the dog we were watching (as a favor; his owner passed away and her husband asked if we could take care of him for the week while he returns to their home state for services) last night by sticking his paw under the door. We didn't think much of it because he was in his own room with the door shut and the door frame gated off. Well, the dog still managed to grab ahold of poor kitty's paw under the door. 2+ hours at the emergency vet and a maxed-out credit card later, kitty has one toe confirmed broken and a 2nd potentially broken (waiting for the radiologist's report today). He's in  a full-leg cast with a cone, and has to be kept quiet for 8-10 weeks minimum, unless we opt to amputate the toe fragments that are affected. Then it's only 2 weeks recovery.

Pretty much the last thing we needed right now. My car has been in the shop since Wednesday and still no word on what's wrong or how much it's going to cost.

I just want to crawl back into bed until this bad luck subsides.

  • OMG KB, poor kitty and poor you.  You deserve a trip back to bed right now.  I hope the car is an unexpected super easy fix!
  • Thanks Stacks! You and me both. Really, I feel terrible for H; he came to the e-vet with me despite having to leave for work at 5AM... so he only got about 3.5-4 hours of sleep last night. And of course, I feel terrible for the poor kitty. He is generally a very active cat and he loves being with people, so being confined to a (large) crate for the next two months is going to be very hard on him.
  • Morning. Good lord, everyone had cat drama!

KB, I hope your little guy doesn't have additional broken anything and that he weathers his time in the crate okay -- you guys are very good kitty parents to get him to the vet so quickly.
So far, being a Gray is pretty awesome. image
  • oh KB.  so sorry your kitty is hurting.

i woke up at 3am with a migraine.  I took my migraine medicine and it helped for awhile, but its starting to come back.

I am back in the office and in my new office, so today is mostly unpacking what I can and organizing it.  The desk they brought me is broken, so I'm getting a new one tomorrow.  Which means I cant unpack any desk items until then.

  • I hope your migraine goes away button. Those suck. And good luck unpacking... kind of hard to be truly productive without a desk, I imagine.
  • KB, the annoying thing is there is a desk here that they set up my computer and phone on.  It boggles my mind that they put a desk in here to begin with that HAS A BROKEN LEG- why would they even put it in here when it was clearly broken?!
