So a few weeks ago I bought this book called the "Games Bible" that is this big compendium of more than 300 guessing games, car games, party games, pencil and paper games, word games - you name it. I was looking through it last night, and noticed that there's a whole section for Victorian parlor games, some of which require only a group of people and can be played conversationally, say over dinner. They're games like coming up with an elaborate compliment for the person sitting next to you, or going around in a circle and trying to think of a famous quote that begins with each letter of the alphabet, etc.
I was thinking (given the steampunk theme of the wedding) that it might be fun to pick out three or four of the games, print them up on cardstock, and then leave one on each table at the reception. We wouldn't mandate that people play the games or anything, but I thought just having them out there for people to read might add a nice touch to the wedding, and also maybe if there was a table that was having trouble thinking of things to talk about, they'd have the game as an idea for a possible ice breaker.
What do you think? Cute and worth the minimal effort it would take to pull it off? Or kinda meh?
