Where to seat people

Making a seating chart. Where am I supposed to stick people?! Do I put my father with my in-laws or him with my grandparents? Are we supposed to combine families or seperate them table-wise?! Most of the teenagers will be at their own tables. It's a laid back-out door reception.

<div>Seat them with who they will be comfortable with.  I would seat your dad with your grandparents, and other family members.  A wedding isn't a time where new people have to meet and mingle over dinner.  Let them be comfortable with people they know.</div>

  • My stepmom will sit with members of her family, and my mom and stepfather with members of theirs.  My FILs will sit with their own family as well.  Each will kind of have their own section of the venue.

  • Just saw that your wedding is July 3.  You can't possibly have RSVPs back yet, unless you sent invites way early.

Save yourself the aggravation of putting together a seating chart until you know for sure who is coming.  I have about half my RSVPs in, maybe a bit less than that, and I'm tempted, but there's still so much open.

  • I would keep your family and your FI's family separate unless they already know and like eachother.  I would ask your parents where they'd like to sit.

We were thinking of having of parents and grandparents sit together, which is what FI's brother did at his wedding, but my dad told me he might like to sit by generation, so with his siblings, which wouldn't really work out for FI's family, so we are still figuring it out.

Oh, and we're date twins :)
