Wedding Website (with poll)

I was going to make a wedding website...eventually, but I've realized that no one will check it.  My family is always late to adopt technology, and most of them don't have a computer.

Instead of doing the website, would it be weird if I wrote out the pertinent information and mailed it, along with some brochures for things to do in the area?  I would not put anything about registries on there.

Re: Wedding Website (with poll)

  • What information are you looking to mail, exactly? It is very common to mail direction cards and hotel information as a separate little card in the invitation - that's how I would do it.

Some people include a packet like that in a "welcome" basket for out of town guests. I think for your situation it sounds like a good idea to mail them out now-ish.

ETA: I think it would be okay to send them as kind of a STD, not with the actual invite. If you were thinking about sending them w/the invites, I'd just have hotel info on a little card.

  • Awwww, c'mon now, why not put the registry info in the invite?  Especially since you are not doing a website?

    I kid, I kid.

I did a website, but since I have seal n sends, I am not sure how I am going to add it into them.  I will more than likely print up something this weekend.  It is supposed to storm tomorrow here, so I am going to get them done.

  • I added a card to the invitation with hotel information and directions.  I figured that's all people would really need from the website.  People did manage to get married before wedding websites.

  • I'd also do the card with hotel info and directions, but skip brochures. You can leave brochures for people when they check into a hotel as part of a welcome bag or basket, but I wouldn't clutter an invitation with that kind of info.
  • I would be including information about the hotel, shuttle, alternate places to stay, and the weekend plans.  For instance, I want people to know that they're welcome to come to the RD, and that we're doing a brunch on Sunday.

My MOH told me they're all starting to look at airfare, but no one knows when they're supposed to come out here.  My family is weird.  Nice, but weird.

Good point about the brochures.  I thought of doing that because most of them have never set food in Ohio, and they seem to think civilization doesn't exist out here.
  • If most of them don't have a computer, I would probably mail them the information.

  • I made a packet of information for people who couldn't/wouldn't access a website (grandparents and great-relatives).  Other than that, I just included a card with the website and main headings of information.
  • I'm doing something similar since my family is not techie at all. I'm doing a "wedding" flier with directions, hotel choices, and transportation options.
