Not invited but sent gift!

Hello all!

I teach dance/yoga/pilates at a variety of different locations. I have multiple bosses. I was not planning on inviting my bosses to my wedding because I dont have an outseide relationship with them. I see them for work stuff and thats it. One of my bosses just sent me a really nice wedding gift. She knew I was getting married and I am sure she asked where I was registered. I took it as passing conversation...like just people talking about wedding stuff.

Now that I have this present, do I need to invite her to the wedding? Thanks for your help!

  • No, you don't need to invite her. Just send her a thank you card.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Nah, treat this as a nice surprise, not a ploy to score an invite. Make sure you write a nice thank you note promptly and do not use the gift until after the wedding. :)

  • I wish I had gotten a gift like that. My bosses couldn't even be bothered to call me by my new last name after I got married.

  • Yeah I would definitely send any of my employees a gift, and would not be expecting an invite at all.
  • Just send a thank you.  So far we've gotten 3 gifts from people not invited to the wedding.  The first one gave me a complex, but by now I think it's just people being nice.

  • I agree - I would send a wedding gift to my employees even if I was not invited
