I have bags...

...under my eyes the rival that of 80 year-olds.

I just got the proofs/slide-show back from the boudoir pictures I had done 3+ weeks ago....and in the majority of the pictures, my dark bags under my eyes are all I can see.

That being said, I'm sure I'm overly critical of myself--because it's me.

Do you guys tend to pick out your flaws in pictures of yourself?

Re: I have bags...

  • Unfortunately, my eye automatically goes to the parts of myself that I don't like, and I determine whether those parts look okay or if the pic needs to be banished forever.

On the plus side it's just proofs though, so the photog can brighten up those spots for the final product, right?

  • They can totally photoshop those, right?

(fwiw I do the same thing though).

  • Absolutely. I despise my profile because I think my nose is too big for my face and it has a bump. If someone does catch a profile shot of me, I cringe. And then think about what I must look like in real life from the side.

  • Absolutely!  I was just saying this to my friend about New Year's Eve.  I thought I looked so cute and good that night, and then every picture my friend took of me and my H and then showed me, I thought I looked SO fat!  I mean I know I've gained weight but come on!  I'm just very critical of my face in pictures.

I'm sure it's worse to you than it really is!  We're always our own worst critic.

  • Aww that sucks.  Can your photog lighten them at all?  I bet you still look hawt.

I totally pick myself apart in photos.  Sometimes, all I can see in our wedding video and pictures is my saggy double chin thing.  I was totally tempted to order this the other day.  I'm so glad DH uses photoshop because at least now I no longer have to stare at my giant zits in vacay photos.

  • They can totally photoshop those, right?

I think the proofs she sent are the ones she has already edited...I suppose I could ask her to pull overtime on the photoshop if I chose to have any printed that reallly show off the dark circles....but in some of them, it's just so bad that I doubt photoshop would help; I look half asleep!

Why must we be so critical of ourselves? Gosh Embarassed

  • I'm the same way.  And I have an undereye problem too, only mine aren't bags they're just really dark circles.  When I'm tired and I take off my makeup at night sometimes I think I look like I got punched in the eye socket!  Ugh.  But thank goodness for make up right?  I feel bad for guys who just have to let it all hang out there.

  • Im the same, its bad enough I just havnt let myself be photographed since last october because I know I will just be pissed off at what I see. I will pick apart my face, my hair, my legs, my stomach, whatever. I have so many wedding pictures I "trashed" (i saved them but they are in a hidden file somewhere that no one will ever see), because I looked so god awful. Sweaty face, double chin, stupid facial expression. I do it.
  • Yup, I do it too.  Talk to your photog again - if she knows that's what worries you, she can focus more there.  She might not have edited spot areas, because she didn't think the bags were noticeable, but esp as another self-critical girl, I bet she'd take a pass at fixing them.

  • Um, do you really think that Rich is going to be looking at your UNDER EYES???  With all that hotness going on, I'm sure he'll be plenty distracted.

That being said, yes, I pick apart every photo, and I think your photog can fix those pretty easily.

  • I hate it when my FI takes  photos of me I cant stand how I look. But he refuses to delete them and will argue its a good picture. So I guess beauty's in the eye of the beholder, and I think Sucrets is right he wont be looking at your bags.

I have had dark circles since I was born and they only get worse as you age. FI was a dear and listened to Dr.Oz the other day on his answer for the solution, he said use Vitamin C or Vitamin D cream, it thickens the skin under the eye.
That area has thin skin and the blood pools there, making them appear dark. Maybe it'll help for furture pics.

P.S. a friend of mine told me she buys Vitamin C powder at Target and adds a peas size to her night cream.
