save the date question

My fiance and I are trying to see if we can swing a wedding in less than 2 months. We actually found 2 available venues and a priest who is available to marry us. One venue is a typical type place that will do mostly everything for us and it's available on a Sunday. The other venue is available on a Saturday but it will require a lot more work i.e. a tent rental, caterer, chairs, tables, trailer with bathrooms etc. The first one seems like a better choice as far as stress level is concerned but the second location is more of what we want. We need a little more time to figure out the budget for both places to see if we can do either one. Should we send a save the date e-mail even though we might change the date if we can't pull it off in time? Is it already bad etiquette to send out wedding invitations with less than 2 months notice?

Re: save the date question

  • I forgot to add that the dates are back to back so it would be a save the weekend type e-mail.

I wouldn't send save the dates until you're certain of the day, but even wedding invitations need to go out in two weeks at the very latest. Can you really pull that off?

edit: I just saw your update. I'm not sure that changes my mind though. get it finalized and get the invitations out the door as soon as is possible. I wouldn't be worrying over STDs at this point.

  • Thank you for the advice. I'm thinking about printing my own invitations so it's going to be extra work but at least I can work on them during my evenings and  the weekend. My maid of honor has also offered to help so I'm very lucky to have her. I'm leaning more towards the easier venue but my fiance really wants to try to see if we can do the one that will involve more preparation. I don't want to shut him down because it is our day but I also want to come to a decision very soon so we can give enough notice to our guests. Thank you for your input!
