  • I don't think I'd sigh and think lovingly of my wedding day whenever I got the minimum payment bill each month..

But....she's trying!!!  If the stupid housing market wasn't so awful, they'd be fine!!!!!!!!  It's the freakin economy's fault, so she's entitled to make it worse because she wants her big fairy princess wedding.  Duh.

  • many docs are actually... not that smart.

  • I don't even know why she is trying to justify this.  She should re-read and see how stupid the idea sounds!

  • Nothing to do with OP, but, I agree that being a doctor does not guarantee common sense.
I was in the e.r. a few days ago with my very elderly grandmother. The dr walked in and said, "What can I do for you tonight.?" How about starting by reading her fuucking chart, and follow that by omitting the dumbass questions.

    image
  • oh we in the ER usually read the chart first. that's a standard question because the chart doesn't give the whole story. we want the story in the patient's words, not the patient's words via the triage nurse via the chart. the chart has the objective information, the patient has the subjective info.

  • Did you see the girl on budget (I think) the other day who's post basically said:

Hi! We've set the wedding at 20k. So now... where does the money come from? I mean, should I take out a loan, or put it on credit cards or what?

  • I actually suggested that she use the loan to convert higher interest debt, if they have any, like auto loans, etc.  If it's the same as what FI was offered, it's 1% or so, which can save a lot vs. a 5% auto loan.  They could use that savings for the wedding.  But. . . not the LOAN for the wedding.

  • I'm sure I attempted to add in a little snark to that thread. it just pisses me off, people who want to take loans out for their pretty princess day.

  • I feel like she might be lying about a few details if she is considering a loan for her wedding.

  • I just went into that post and bitchslapped her with words. What a ninny.

Actually, I kind of doubt it.  FI talks like West Point almost pushes people to take the loans out.  The term of the loan is such that it's paid back as soon as your minimum commitment is complete, and it comes directly out of their pay, so they earn good credit history and the total interest paid is really low, compared to any other loan.  I think the intent is to help young officers get cars, furniture, etc. without going into high-interest debt & credit card troubles.

I'm not saying she should use it for the wedding - but it's intent, from the military, is a good one.

  • PS -  FWIW, Jasmine, docs do that to see if the patient can explain, in their own words, what is going on and sometimes their level of comprehension. It doesn't mean they haven't read the chart.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
