I know, it's so strange for me to post two things on the same topic in a row, but I figured this one needed its own window. Apparently these are the people I love.
Jane is my friend. Sam married Jane. Sam is the reason I am with the man I am about to marry (although of course he did what he did because I am Jane's friend). Sam and Jane divorced.
In a normal situation, we would invite Sam AND Jane and let them figure out the awkwardness for themselves because they are both important in our relationship. BUT...
A recent google search reveals a small scandal involving him in their small town. It isn't confirmed, and Jane will not confirm it nor say anything bad about him. I have asked point blank "Should we invite Sam" and she deflects or says, "as you want". It is possible that there is a restraining order between them but she won't confirm that either!! Who are these people???
Anyway, we would really want Sam to be there since he basically made this marriage happen, but I am also very loyal to Jane and don't want to make her uncomfortable. What to do.
