PW. Question for the regs.

How many wedding related threads do you give advice in?  Ones that aren't like ridiculous beebees asking questions.  But, like legit, "Should we do favours or not?" type questions.

Re: PW. Question for the regs.

  • I never give advice, and if I do it is never actually GOOD advice. I am kind of a cvnt like that.
    image
  • If I don't feel like answering them, I don't.

But sometimes I feel like it is good for them to get a lot of the same answers so they can be reassured of their decision. That is, if they take our advice.
  • I answer the ones I definitely, for sure know the answers to and if the OP doesn't sound like a giant douche. Some I don't even open. I could give two shiits about wedding stuff, frankly. Now that mine's over.

  • I probably open like 5 a week.  And post in 1 a week.  If I'm not going in to say something stupid or funny or witty.  But like legit advice?  I just can't get it up for it anymore.

  • Do I get to be a reg?

I answer the ones that I'm in the mood to answer or from people I want to mess with lol. I do NOT answer ones by posters I think are annoying (who ask about EVERY. LITTLE. THING. "Can I have pink toenails in my closed toe shoes?")
  • I usually answer most of them but I tend to pass up on teh how to address the invite ones.  Like the ones on how do I address the invite when my guest is a doctor?  I don't feel confident that I know the proper way on those so I skip them.

  • Ditto LC.  I answer the ones I know the answer to.

  • I'm not a reg yet, but often I just read and don't post bc if 10 people have already said what I would say - not sure how much value add it would be for me to post.
on my month board I'm a little more active but not too much.
  • I answer the ones I think I have good insight on or know the right answer to.  I don't usually answer the ones that already have 20 replies saying the same thing.
  • I notice myself doing it less and less, at least on E.  When I get bored I'll venture to the other boards.  But on like WP I can't even bring myself to open most of the threads anymore.

If it's a thread a lot of people have already answered then I usually don't, unless the OP has just come back and said something else, or I have something different to add.

  • NEVER (more accurately very rarely).  I didn't like planning my own wedding and I just don't really have any great advice to give anyone else.

  • Hardly ever.  Unless I'm bored.

I don't know if I count as a reg anymore, but ditto this. I have a new habit of skimming reply counts and opening threads that have enough responses to suggest they might be interesting. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-embarassed.gif" border="0" alt="Embarassed" title="Embarassed" />

I have an obligation to answer.

My question is: am I a reg yet, or am I still a "reg"?  Sealed

Eta: I only answer if the question hasn't been answered or these a debate going between people.  I try not to repeat what 20 people have already said.  But I do try to check almost every WR post at least once.
  • Only on occasion, but I'm starting to get burnt out on my own wedding planning, so I skip a lot of the wedding related threads now. They just seem to be the same thing over and over and over...
  • I think Mod status automatically converts you to reg. :)

I was just going to say this.  I open them based on the number of replies, because if a seemingly benign or boring topic has more than 10-15 responses, I assume there's some flaming going on in there.

  • It also depends on who starts the thread, too.

  • Pretty close to never.  I have no interest in answering basic WR questions unless there is a real dilemma or story involved.
  • I'll answer if it's on a topic that irks me, or if I can type a one sentence response. Too many other threads to read.
  • Rosie you put that in your signature RIGHT NAO.

I am an intermittent advice giver. I skip over the lame looking threads "BABEES AT MY WEEDDING??" and go straight to ones that look interesting "FMIL sometimes lives 2nd life as man, how to address invite?"
  • I answer them if I have the time, know the answer, and am inclined to do so. I'm also more likely to answer if I have a differing opinion from most of the rest of the responses and feel that the OP needs more than one voive on the question.

I don't even open threads about kids at the wedding or cash bars anymore, though. I just can't.

  • I hope I'm considered a reg.  Laughing  I post sometimes after people have already made the point more eloquently than I would.  I don't care though.  I lurk a lot on the other threads or if something makes me too mad to type (!)

  • I also now feel weird because I just posted a WR question. I think that's going to happen a lot in the next few months, since I'm actually having a wedding now and all.

  • Very rarely. I'm here for the party. ;)

I can - and do - give advice on having a casual but nice wedding in Vegas. And try to rid people of the notion that Vegas = jeans and trucker hat/JOP/drive-thru wedding. Of course, unless you want that.

And I recommend the hell out of my baker out there.

  • I'm also a huge bitch because if I know who you are, I'll totally ACTUALLY answer your question. If I don't, I probably won't. But I will likely make a joke, that the OP will PROBABLY not get.

Why the hell am I here.

I only answer if I have advice that no one has already typed.
