Wedding Etiquette Forum

::Scoetto::

Whit caught me on BB and suggested I page you for ideas.

DH and I are heading down to VA Beach in a few weeks for a mini-vacation. Our hotel is right near the boardwalk. We're driving there, so we'll have a car, and we're staying for 3 nights.

We've never been there before, so we're looking for recommendations for food or what to do while we're there. We already plan on hitting the Marine Science Museum (We're a bit nerdy, haha), but otherwise we're pretty much just winging it at the moment.

Any suggestions? TIA!

  • Ahem.  Does your trip bring you anywhere close to DC?

    Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • Good Morning! When J & I go down to visit family, we love eating at Rock Fish. It's on 18th or 19th right on the boardwalk. They're currently rennovating it outside, but it should be done by tourist season. They have great seafood. Don't eat at Stringers, whatever you do. I think that's on 21st? We just ate there the weekend before last. Trust me. Don't do it.

    Also for eating a local favorite is Chicho's Pizza on 21st (and maybe 28th or 29th). It's yummy! And also if you go further down the strip, so the street numbers go down, you will end up on Rudee's Inlet. The restaurant & raw bar is good! (Rudee's On The Inlet is the name of the restaurant.)

    The Virginia Marine Science Museum is awesome! The last time we went (a year or so ago) they were still rennovating it but I think it's complete! I used to volunteer there in high school. The sting ray touch tank is pretty neat (it's the exhibit I helped with). Highly recommended!

    The Science Museum also does Dolphin Watching Tours. I think it's about $20/pp. You go out on a huge boat for about an hour & a half to two hours (don't remember exactly) and learn about dolphins as well as see them in the ocean. It's pretty neat! Those take off from Rudee Inlet.

    Also check out the Fishing Pier located on 14th or 15th street. No worries, you won't miss it! I think it's only a few dollars to walk down, and a little more if you want to fish. Go for the view, if anything! There are binoculars you can take a vew out of and a gift shop. It jets out pretty far into the ocean, for a view you won't forget.

    If I think of anything else I'll let you know. When are you planning on going down?
  • Tide, I'm sorry, no DC this time. We are thinking about doing a weekend there some time over the summer though, so I'll be sure to hit you up when the time comes.

    Sco, we're going the third week in May ... I believe the 17th-20th. DH is a big raw bar lover, so I'll definitely make sure we check out Rudee's. Also, we are always in search of "the world's best pizza", so Chico's is now on the To-Do list.

    Thanks!
