OMG, where is everyone??

I went and got my nails done tonight and I was super excited about the place I found. It's as nice as the place in my old city and I LOVED the girl that did them. Before I went in, I went to Ulta to buy some OPI nail polish. I got these two:






The purple one looks black on. Not sure how I feel about it, but I'm just happy to have nice looking nails right now. I also bought the purple one in a new finish, "suede".


I was going to have her put a light coat over the regular finish for a little sparkle but as she was working on me, I read that little tag. Apparently you're not supposed to wear a top coat or use lotion. Wtf? So I ended up taking it back.  Oh, I also got 3 mini nail polishes as a free gift. Very pretty colors!

I actually lost my virginity today Well, I guess that's what most nail salons use, but I haven't been in over a year. And I never really paid attention or branched out from like...red or pink.

We're not really allowed to wear nail polish at work - it makes me very sad.  I think I have that purple one.

What in the world do you do that you can't wear nail polish. I mean...I didn't even ask. But I don't see the public very much, so I can't imagine there would be a problem...

I work in surgery.  We can usually get away with it until it starts chipping, which happens quite quickly since I wash my hand about 50 times a day.  

ETA:  we can't wear any jewelry either, which really annoys me.

Oh ok, that makes sense. I'm sorry I file all day long and I was destryoing my nails. And I can never wear nail polish because it lasts maybe 24 hrs. I decided to get acrylics again because the polish lasts forever this way.

Do they have that shellac polish anywhere by you?  I think it's about $25 just for the polish, but it's supposed to stay on 2 weeks without chipping.  I think I'm going to try it before we go on our cruise.

I've never heard of that! I'll have to look it up. A color I really like is Paradoxial by Chanel. It's also $25. It's going to be awhile before I can stomach shelling that out.

Starbucks doesn't allow nailpolish either.

It's a pretty new thing - I think it came out in the Spring?  I'm not sure who makes it, but I don't think you can buy a bottle, I think you have to get it done at a salon, and then you have to go back in to get it taken off.  I've had a few friends get it, they said it really stays on and doesn't chip.

Ooh, OPI. I should try them. I've been lusting after some dark teal and gray polishes I saw last fall but didn't have the guts to buy.

I rarely venture outside pinks and mauves either, but I want to try something new like that.

It's like the least beauty commitment you can make. Don't like it? Comes off in 2 min! And if you get it from Sephora (and Ulta, I think), you can return it if you don't like it :D

I love Sephora.  I actually don't like to go into the store, for some reason I can never find anything.  But their website... my god can I find a ton of stuff to buy on there.  And I love free samples...  hmmm... I may have to go play over there for awhile.

I've beem kind of...cheating the system. I'm buying my make up one piece at a time. There's this stuff that I LOVE. Benefit High Beams. It's a highlighter cream. You should check it out. Anyways, everytime I go in there for something new, I get a sample of that. It will be the last thing I buy because I can keep getting samples lol

I'm such a sucker for free things.  Especially free makeup.  I just got a bunch of benefit samples - I'll have to check out what's in there - maybe I have some!

I have that deep purple color and I love it in the winter! I like it because black has come back into style, but sometimes looks flat or harsh. The purple is dark enough to look black but has some warmth to it.

I love that stores like Walmart, Target, Walgreens, etc are caring OPI now.
