Random: Boots for big calves

I have a strange problem with boots. I'm short (5'1"), and I have ginormmous calves. So, there's a very short segment of lower leg that's normal size before my 16" calves. DH literally cut me out of my last pair of boots.

Does anyone else have this problem? Have you found boots you can wear? I hate the stretchy pleather ones; I think they look gross. Are there custom leg widths on boots?

i have the same problem - even at my thinnest i still have to contend with the polish logs i inherited from my dad.

i like the karen scott cassidy pair that panda posted. i hate slouchy boots.
  • Thank you for this post! I have monstrous calves. ::runs to go online boot shopping::

  • I have super-large calves for my frame (I believe I inherited these from my father, given his calf muscles are the size of basket balls) and experience this problem, but am yet to find a solution!
  • I have this same problem and for that reason have never bought boots above ankle height.
  • I am a plus sized girl and I have an issue with having larger calves as well. Torrid.com has very cute boots and other shoes in all sizes but they take larger women into consideration while designing their items. torrid is also in a few malls.
  • I had this same problem!  I wear a size 10-12 but have big thighs and calves (thanks, Dad!)- about 15-16."  Also, I'm an Arizona girl recently transplanted to the upper Midwest, and have a wardrobe of all skirts.  Not to sound too much like a commercial, but this company saved me from a state of permanent frostbite: http://www.duoboots.com/

They are expensive, I'm not going to lie (it took me forever to save up for them).  But they are the best fitting, most durable, warmest (and quite cute!) boots I have ever owned!  I have the Brindisi in black and I ADORE them.  If you live in the cold and need a good pair of boots that will last you forever, these are for you.
  • Naturalizer Bradbury comes in wide shaft. I have the regular shaft boots, and they're sooooo comfy and classic looking.
