So yesterday I received a phone call from the college I applied to regarding my application for their accelerated BSN Nursing program. The woman would like to recommend me for early decision for the Spring 2012 program and I would know about my acceptance by the end of this April...giving me over a year to save and get settled financially. Since the program is accelerated, chances are I wouldnt be able to keep my job (full time anyways) because classes are 5 days a week on top of 3 days a week clinicals. Now for the sucky part....I would probably have to move my wedding. My wedding falls on the weekend before midterms (the admissions lady did confirm that for me for 2013) and it would be too much to take on and clearly I wouldnt have much time to study the week before my wedding, nor would I want to. So here are my options:
Move the wedding to March 2012 (before I start school) and keep it small and intimate. We would have to forfeit our chosen venue becuase they need a $10,000 minimum and theres no way we can come up with that money on top of all the other costs for the wedding in under a year.
Keep the wedding as planned but move the date up by one week. The previous week would be spring break so I would be off all week, get married saturday and recover on Sunday to prep for a full week of class and studying. I just dont know the kind of planning stress to expect so late in the process AND during the last semester of school combined. Sounds like a big YIKES to me
The final option is to wait until 2014...which is my least favorite but the most practical. I would be out of school (hopefully) working as an RN for a year, giving us 3 years to save and really be ready. I just dont want to wait so long and be engaged forever. But me getting accepted will change our lives forever, for the better giving us everything we want.
So what are your suggestions? FI supports any idea because he gets the bigger picture...either way we would be together. I just feel like a 3 1/2 year engagement is silly...
