pre-wedding bridesmaid gifts?

I just received an email from one of my bridesmaids (my cousin) telling me that she was not only hurt but also offended that I haven't purchased gifts yet for them. I am not getting married until July and I live in FL while she lives in NY so I didn't think it was necessary to give gifts this far in advance. Did I miss something? 

She gave examples of things I should have considered buying such as shirts that say "bridesmaid" across the front or a tote bag. I have no problem giving gifts around the wedding time but need to know if I just made a mistake and should have given something when I asked them to be in the wedding party? Thanks!

    Your cousin is misinformed, and excessively rude to demand gifts. Most BM gifts aren't given until the week or even day before the wedding. And the word 'gift', by nature, means 'nonmandatory'.

    Ha wow... What a psycho. I'd tell her, oh no honey, in case you forgot the wedding isn't until July! Like.. Does she expect your entire engagement to mean she should be showered with gifts?? I'm a beeotch so if someone were to say that to me Id send them a link where to purchase a bridesmaid shirt if she wants one so fcking bad.

    Yeah, this is one of those instances where you pick up a phone. She's totally out of line. Don't sweat it, but I'd deal with it quickly so it won't snowball into family drama.
