Tipping my Photographer

Hey Ladies,
I have a question about tipping my photographer.  I am using a family owned and operated photographer.  My main photographer owns the business, so I know that I do not need to tip him...but my second photographer is his son.  I know that they all are family members and they all work in the office answering emails and phone calls, but I don't know if he's a part owner or just employed by his dad right now.  Do I tip the son?

Re: Tipping my Photographer

  • In this case, I would tip both of them if you decide a tip is warranted.  You certainly don't HAVE to tip your main photog, but since they're family, I would feel weird tipping one and not the other, and I would feel bad not tipping the son.

FWIW, I tipped both of my photogs and they both own their own business.  They went above and beyond and totally deserved it.

  • I agree with J&K - I'd either tip both or neither.  ,Our photographer stayed extra with no charge, and we got digital rights to our photos on a disk so I didn't buy any photos through her so she didn't see any extra from me in photo printing so I gave her and her assistant a good tip.
