So my sister is getting married in about 2 weeks. My mom emailed me today and said that at my wedding, because my parents sat in the chairs on my side of the aisle (traditional bride's side to the left facing the altar) they couldn't really see my face. Therefore, they are considering having the guests essentially switch sides - so my parents would be sittiing on what is traditionally the grooms' side, and FBIL's family and guests would be on the bride's side. Has anyone seen this done? It seems really weird to me. I feel like the "traditional" guests (and there are a lot on FBIL's side) will naturally go and sit on what is usually his side. Should we make sure there are ushers to clue guests in? Signs marking the sides?
