Tipping photographer for engagement shoot?

Hi ladies

So our engagement picture shoot is taking place this Monday. The shoot is part of our photography/videography package. I was wondering if we are supposed to tip the photographer/videographer after the shoot, even though we will be tipping them after the wedding reception for all their services. Is it proper etiquette to tip now, and once again later.. or all at once after the wedding?

I didn't.  Just like you my engagement pictures were part of my wedding photography package, and since I plan on tipping the photographer on the wedding day, I didn't feel the need to tip him twice.  I did, however, send him a thank you note and I plan on buying a couple of prints.

Personally I would not tip the photographer for the engagement photos.  Our photographer let us know that he uses the 1-hr engagement shoot to get an idea of what bride and groom are like together (what makes them comfortable etc).   And so in essence the engagement shoot preps the photographer for the big day and makes the "big day" a little easier for him too.

Personally, I would wait, see if you like the final product and then tip based on that.  To my knowledge there is no expectation to tip directly after the engagement shoot.
