Nala is leaving today :(

I know several of you have fostered dogs, so I'm guessing you know how I feel. Our little foster pup is going to her new home tonight - H just called to tell me. I know it's for the best, and I really don't want to have two dogs right now because it puts more limitations on us that we don't want, but she is so cute and sweet and good, and I'm going to miss her little face.

She's going to live with a friend, so we will still see her, but his house is about 45 minutes away, so we probably won't see her that often. Tell me good foster puppy stories and how nice it was to have your normal life back without worrying about a second dog anymore?

  • Aww I'm sorry Emily. I've never fostered before, but you know it was for the best if you couldn't keep her full time. And don't worry about your pup forgetting about her. Oz only gets to see my brother's dog a few times a year and they always pick up right where they left off and have the best time.
  • All I can tell you is... I don't want to even worry about ONE dog anymore.
  • Awww....you did the right thing. You fostered her until someone could bring her into a loving home. I know it'll be rough, but just remember that you did something good for another living creature (cheesy? no?).

She'll be ok Emily, I promise. She'll probably miss her at first, but dogs live in the now. She won't be sitting around 6 months from now pouting and cursing you for taking away her buddy. :)
  • Ha, Birdie, the idea of a little Cocker Spaniel grumbling at me months from now actually made me laugh, so thanks. I know that she'll be sad for a couple days and then will move on, I just feel bad that I can't somehow explain it all to her. Which I know is ridiculous because she is a DOG, but it's how I feel.

Snippy, the team leaves next Wednesday! So from Thursday onward, the Chilean team will be in Gothenburg. I'm still not going though, sorry. I'll be in England for sure at some point next year though and want to visit another country for a few days too, so as soon as those plans start shaping up we will discuss where in Europe we're meeting :)
  • Oh I get it. Trust me! Perhaps you could take her to a dog park at some point to get her mind off of not having her buddy and let her get out and play with other dogs?
  • Dammit!  Gothenburg is only a couple of hours from me.  BOOO.
  • Give me your boss' number! ;)
