Christmas Card/Save the Date?

Is it tacky to make your annual Christmas card your save the date as well? You know kill 2 birds with one stone! Let me know what you think!!!

Re: Christmas Card/Save the Date?

  • As long as everyone who gets one will be invited to the wedding, it's just fine.
  • We enclosed separate STD magnets with our Chrsitmas cards last year. We did photo cards with one of our e-pics, then made separate STD magnets to enclose that more fit our theme. It still only took one stamp, and we thought the magnet would be more likely to stay on the fridge as a reminder than a Christmas card. We used business card szied magnets from Office Max (or Office Depot, then got blank business cards with a design and used the template provided to make the STD more fitting to our theme. It was easy and pretty inexpensive.

  • I personally think the idea of save the date cards is one of the silliest, but cleverest marketing, gimmicks the wedding industry has ever come up with.  I did not send out these notices, and nearly 100 percent of my invites are attending.  If you know someone, anyone, whose social life is so busy, he/she needs six months notice, then let him/her informally know of the date.  Most people do not book up two months in advance, which is about when your invitations will go out anyway.  Sorry, but most of us just aren't that popular.
