Whats up ladies

Re: Whats up ladies

  • I love it when there's leftovers because then I don't have to figure out food.

I'm a picky eater, but not what you'd think of when you think of a picky eater- I like lots of foods, but only when they're cooked really well.  And I'm a crap cook.  So I end up not eating much if FI doesn't feed me because nothing I make tastes very good to me. When I was single, sometimes I would go to bed hungry because I couldn't figure out something good to eat for dinner. It was pathetic.  I'm not that bad anymore, at least.
  • I absolutely love our Food Saver MuSu.  That was an item that was H's idea for our registry, and I fought it because I said it will just collect dust and we'll never use it.  But I use it waayyy more than I ever imagine.  I'll buy huge things of meat and then divide it into portions of 3-4 and seal them.  Then whenever I bake cookies to send to H I FoodSaver them too.

  • Hi peeps!  Amyone still around?  I am sitting around NOT unloading the dishwasher or folding laundry.  Too much work.  I had Jimmy Johns for dinner....yum.

We didn't need it until we got our 1/4 beef. It helped also alleviate the pounds of venison that hogged our freezer from J's hunting too though.

Yeah, I had the same reaction at first too, haha. It is awesome though! I didn't even think of using it for sending cookies, or saving baked goods. That is a great idea.

[QUOTE]I've heard Jimmy Johns is amazing, but we don't have one around here.  I think there's one in Birmingham, but I'm not sure I could find it.

Ehh, I love it, but you're probably not missing too much.  It was one of the only places open late night where I went to college so I had many a drunken night cramming sandwiches into my face, and I think that is why I love it. H doesn't understand why I love it so much.   Memories taste good, I guess.
  • Jimmy John's is not amazing.

The only sandwich of theirs that I like is the tuna, because they put cucumbers and sprouts on it, and no cheese.  Perfect.

Everything the light touches is my kingdom.
  • I love JJ's too but I wouldn't say it is something worth traveling TOO far for. I just love their bread.
    image
  • They are, however, true to their claim of being freaky fast.
    image
  • I like Jimmy John's.  there was a place uptown by my university called Bagel & Deli.  Drunken food of the gods!!  SO GOOD!!
  • I think the place for drunken food at my college was a pizza place because it had weird combinations of pizza. It is a little hole in the wall but was ALWAYS packed on weekend nights.

  • We had a Pop's Diner that was open 24 hrs. That was where everyone would go to eat after drinking all night at college. It was great food for a greasy hole-in-the-wall diner. It closed my senior year and it was a big loss for us.

  • Hey there! I would love a chest freezer, but we have no space now in the new apartment. :( MuSu I want to get a quarter steer, but it will have to wait until I'm in a home again.

I have not worked out since last Wednesday or Thursday I believe. I might run tomorrow afternoon, but I hear it's supposed to snow. This no having access to a gym and not being on a regular schedule is absolutely killing me.

  • Our other drunk food option in college was Burger King.  My friend and I, who were both vegetarian, would always go at 3am and order whoppers with no meat (this was before the days when BK served veggie burgers), one large fries and one large onion rings, and then we'd ask for all the sauces.  We'd take everything back to our apartment and stuff our faces, talking about sauce combinations the whole time.  "Mmm, barbecue and honey are really good together!"  "Whoa, you've gotta try zesty and ranch!"
  • I love having so much beef, MK. You will love it when you get one!

Rachers, what kind of guestbook thing with postcards are you doing? Like having a guest sign each one?
    image
  • I'm trying to remember our drunken hangouts. I went to school with a bunch of chefs so more often than not we'd hit the Piggly Wiggly and cook something. It.was.awesome.

I do remember a Diane's, which was a diner, a pizza place on King street that was open until like 4am, and the Taco Bell that was about 5 feet from my townhouse.

  • Oh man Rachers if I was closer to the NC/SC border I would get you a bunch from South of the Border. It's this awesome little attraction and they have the strangest things, including postcards. When I was in Spain one of my friends sent me one from there and on it was a little black kid with an alligator. Had nothing to actually do with the place.

    Here's a link to their website: http://www.thesouthoftheborder.com/

For like 50 miles in either direction on I-95 there are billboards for this place. Lucas and I stopped once. We climbed to the top of the sombrero. That's right, we're cool.

  • Aw that is a cool idea, Ranchers. :)

I'm currently trying to narrow down my choices for a picture that my photog is making into a 20x14 print for us. J will have his favorite choices too so I'm hoping some of ours overlap.

  • I saw Midge around today.

  • I always pick pictures based on which one I look the least awful in. I realize this is a very pessimistic way to view pictures.

Musu - You looked great in your video and the pic (pics?) you have posted so far. I'm sure any choice will be great.

  • I have done nothing with our photos. Not a thing. I'm a terrible ex-bride.

So one of my friends must have her Twitter & FB accounts linked. Every other status in my feed is from her Twitter account. She must be watching a TV show because that's all they're about. It's foffing annoying.

So, we finally decided on a yellow for the kitchen. It doesn't match the sample exactly, but after 8 trips to Lowes, 2 trips to Sherwin Williams, and a trip apiece to Benjamin Moore and Home Depot, it's as close as I'm ever going to get. Contractor resumes tomorrow.

Also, talking about stuff in Gina's thread about her dad really rattled me.

  • I'm sorry, Daff :(  I can't imagine how hard that must have been, and must continue to be.

I have similar issues. They usually indicate circumference.
  • Aw thanks ladies. :) We have 700 photos to choose from, haha. But we are just looking for one of us two for this print anyway. I can't wait to get the CD so I can AW all over FB haha.

Yeah. It's been almost 4 years. I haven't recovered, physically or mentally. I guess I'll just never get over it. A piece of me died along with her. I'm not the same person.
  • rachers - are there any antique stores by you?  I see TONS of postcards from all over at them, many are blank too.

[QUOTE]Nicki - I freaking love Zappo's. LOVE. They are pretty descriptive on their website about calf and foot widths. Plus their return policy is amazing. In fact, I'm headed to their website right now because I need a pair of nude heels.

    AWESOME!
ok, I shall call them, and be a ridiculous customer. I know I will be asking crazy show lady questions, so this should be a great ending to a good day.
