Are 'smaller' bridesmaids gifts appropriate?

We are having a destination wedding BUT we are also paying for the bridemaids dresses, hair and jewelry.  It is appropriate to give a smaller bridesmaids gift?  Or maybe give the jewelry they will wear as a gift?

You can get them smaller gifts, but do not make thier jewelry their gift.  Anything for your wedding is not a gift.  It's best to shop for them like it's their birthday.  If you wanted to save money their jewelry does not have to match. Just let them wear some that they already own.

Giving someone something they have to wear in the wedding is not a gift. To me it's more akin to their bridesmaid dress. Get them an actual GIFT. Something not wedding related.

But sure, it can be small, especially since you are doing everything else for them

If you're requiring them to wear it or do it, it's not a gift.

As part of their gift I'm getting each of my bridesmaids a personalized stationary set using the free stuff off of VistaPrint.

Dresses, hair and jewelry are nice, but to me, not a gift. You can give them whatever gift you can afford, but it wouldn't even cross my mind that a dress they have to wear for MY wedding is a gift to them.

I got each of my bridesmaids a silk jewelry roll in their favorite color as their gift and had gotten them pearl necklaces to wear at the wedding.
