its my day! not kate middletons!

http://www.freep.com/article/20101119/FEATURES01/101119019/0/sports

my fave quote from this article was quite early on:

“If their wedding was on my wedding day, I don’t know what I would do!” said Anna Whitcomb, 28, trying on wedding dresses at a London department store. “I know all my family members and guests would want to watch the celebration and would be distracted.”

“I’m supposed to be the princess, and now I have a real princess to compete with,” she added.

  • This story reminds me of the girl who got married on the same day, in the same town as Chelsea Clinton and she was freaking out because of the security concerns and how people maybe late or not come because of it.  I can only imagine what that's going to be like for London brides.

They could easily have it during the week too.  I don't know if England is anything like Italy but weddings are held on any day but Sunday or at least that's true in Southern Italy.

I am definitely going to watch it if I can.  If not, it will be a definite DVR.  I love the way those royals dress with their funny hats.  No one dresses like that here unless they are in Louisville during the Derby.

  • Its officially Friday April 29th.

If I were a London bride I would be quite stressed about it honestly. Actually in all of England since it will be a royal holiday and that could make scheduling anything a headache and make prices sky rocket.

but hey what can ya do? they have a right to get married to!

  • Yup, April 29th! Guess that screws my plans of making my summer trip to England to see family coincide with the wedding - ah well.

And to people who were saying it would be silly to worry about guests wanting to watch this on TV, that's not a totally unfounded fear. I'm half English, and stuff like this is just HUGE. My half-sister told wedding guests not to worry, there would be TVs in the bar at her reception to watch the World Cup game planned for their wedding day. I don't think people would actually miss a wedding to watch it, but they would be looking for TVs at the reception site if possible and generally talking/thinking about it all day.
