Got an invitation and I'm confused...

I just got a wedding invitation from a friend of my MOH who has become a pretty good friend of mine too. The envelope is addressed to me AND my fiance, but the reply card only has space for ONE reply:

M_______________
__ happily accepts
__ declines with regret

So I'm confused. I don't want to write in my fiance when there's only space for one name, but he's listed on the envelope. Am I reading this incorrectly or is this weird? And what should I do? Just list myself and go alone? I do NOT want to write him in...but he's listed on the envelope...

If it's addressed to you both, you're both invited.  You write both your names after the M.  The M is a beginning for Mr. or Ms./Mrs.

Just curious, is this the first invitation you've ever received?

ETA -- and put the number attending next to accepts.
  • You're both invited.

You are both invited.... I will agree I never liked the "M" at the beginning but it does let people know to write in names there...

No, it's not the first invitation I've ever received. I've just never seen one in this format. They've always had the same number of spaces as invitees.
  • It's a pretty standard format, but a LOT of people don't understand it, so don't feel bad.
People would get more confused with "will ______ attend" so more brides opt for giving accept or regret choices.

Just write both your names (Ms. Krysti Lastname and Mr. FI Lastname) on the line and put a 2 on accepts/regrets. You could also just put your names and a check mark on accepts/regrets; as long as both your names are there, it's fine to check it.
