NWR: Drink Recipes

You ladies always have great food ideas so I am hoping you can help me out.

I need some non-alcoholic drink ideas for a party. The only thing I have on my list so far is hot apple cider, but I wanted to make sure there was a cold option as well. I wanted to stay away from jut plain soda, and the only other things I could think of were iced tea and lemonade, but they don't seem appropriate in the winter.

Thoughts?

Re: NWR: Drink Recipes

  • What about a cranberry spritzer type drink with cranberry juice and seltzer water or sprite?
  • "Kindergarten Punch" It's 1/2 Hawaiian punch, 1/2 ginger ale, with a block of vanilla ice cream floating in it.  It's amazing.

I'm also a fan of the Shirley Temple.

  • Oh! dmb, that gives me an idea. What about doing homemade italian soda type things with Monin flavored syrups and club soda/seltzer?

Would that be something people might enjoy? Give a few options for syrups and then just have a ton of seltzer?

  • panda- how big of a block of ice cream? just a few scoops or the entire half gallon block from a carton?

  • Cranberry + orange juice. Yum. You could even throw in some pineapple juice and it will become sort of a virgin sex-on-the-beach.

  • Ginger ale with cranberry juice, or pomegranate syrup

  • I think that would be something people would like. I'm not really familiar with Monin syrups, but there is a coffee shop near me that makes flavored Italian sodas and it seems like it is just flavored syrup and seltzer mixed together. Its not as sweet as regular soda which I like. I guess if you can't find flavored syrups, it would probably work with different juices too.

what exactly would "virgin sex on the beach" entail.  Sounds anti-climactic.
  • Thanks for the great ideas, everyone!

  • At my work shower, a girl made  apunch with pretty much exactly what dmb described, but she used a frozen berry mix (blue, rasp, straw) for ice cubes. Sooooo delish.

  • brooke, that sounds like a good idea. Was it a drink frozen as ice cubes or a mix of the frozen berries? I might borrow that idea at my next party.

  • Pineapple juice, sprite, and pineapple sherbert makes a tasty punch too.

You can make lemonade super cool with fun ice cubes - take an ice cube tray, put 1 raspberry in each spot, and fill with lemonade, so that it doesn't dilute the drink as it melts.

The organic section of our grocery has lots of juices from Boathouse farms.  Pretty much any of those mixed with Sprite/Soda water/seltzer would likely be tasty

    Non alcoholic egg nog?

Special shirley temple - glass of sprite, with a chunk of pink cotton candy on top.  SUPER fun.  (It's also really cool to make a tart cosmo, and put a chunk of pink cotton candy in the martini glass and pour the cosmo over it.)

Welch's has Guava-Pineapple juice.  Mix with your favorite sparkling beverage (sprite/soda/seltzer).

<div>The entire half gallon.  It makes it really creamy and awesome as it melts.</div>
