Really, a Gang Tour of LA?

Yep, it's called Gangland Tour Bus... They have 12 stop 2 hour tour of the gangs of LA.   The gangs have agreed not to shoot the bus, of course there is a waiver to sign just in case the bus is hit during a drive by-shooting.


Would you go on this tour?

For some reason, since I was 8,  I've had this irrational fear of being randomly shot.

Wow.  Because I trust the word of a gang member not to shoot me!!!  Yea right.  I love watching gangland on TV, and reading books on gang life......I think it's mostly because it makes me love my life just that much more. 

I once read a book called "life of an LA gang member" and it literally had me looking over my shoulder for days.  I can't imagine how I'd feel seeing it in person.

I like gandland on A&E.  That TV tour scares me, I fairly certain I will not be taken a real life tour.

Some of the stops sound really cool, like the graffiti focused areas, but I'd be too afraid of the rest of them I think.

Yeah, because gangs are models of trustworthy citizens....  No way in hell you could get me on that bus, and I want to know what genius thought it would be a good idea.

Will they all pose for pictures with the tourists for an extra fee?  I'm sure the cops would love to have a bunch of tourists in the way while they're dealing with gang violence.

Ricks, according to the website I posted the money will go toward helping out the areas they tour.

Yeah, they give all the profits to South Central residents for various things, from what the website said.

I think in theory it sounds like a good idea, and I don't disagree that it would be interesting to see those things.  But the idea of willingly going into an area that is well known for having random shootouts just don't seem like a good one.

Maybe I'm just a paranoid sheltered midwesterner, but I'll get whatever gang culture fix I need from tv.

Nope, wouldn't do it. But there are a lot of really cool tours you can take in LA that don't involve shootings! Some of them involve historical seedy elements though: http://www.esotouric.com <-- I've done 2 of these.
