Sunday Night

Re: Sunday Night

  • Hiya.  I ditto the "message them" to AB.

Olympics come back on in 15 minutes for me :).  I put a movie in for a while this afternoon for lack of anything else on TV.  I'm getting ready to preheat the oven to warm up my dinner.  I need to figure out what my friend and I are going to eat this week.  She comes in Wednesday morning.  I'm excited to see her and her little boy.  And she's going to help me finish up my registry stuff.

Glad your party was a success Wally.
  • Gah Petal, that's a long day!

I might go get some wine. I never ever approach guys so I'll probably need some liquid courage even to do it online.
  • Thanks, ladies! It was an all-around wonderful weekend. AND, we have tons of leftovers, so no cooking tonight! (I've eaten so much crab dip that I may grow pinchers and a shell!)
    image
  • Just remember Dino. They're on the site looking for someone too. You're both (presumaby) in the same situation.

  • Crab dip sounds delicious. Wally, next time you have a big party I'm coming because the food you've described sounds heavenly.

<div>My SIL made it and it is super good. Other SIL made two kinds of chicken skewers: one with peanut sauce and one with a garlic/parmesan coating. YUM. She also made a buttload of rumaki. Every last bit of that stuff along with glazed meatballs and BBQ weenies were GONE. </div><div>
</div><div>Only mishaps were 1) Sterno accident caused a teensy bit of a fire on the tablecloth. OOPS. And 2) some oldster left the lemonade dispenser valve turned to 'ON', and we had a cup or two of lemonade on the floor. Oh well. That's what rags and mops are for, right?</div>

<div>Just reading this post is making me hungry.</div>

  • back in the day I joined Match.  No joke, it matched me with my brother (I didn't know he had an account) :(  I stopped match at that point...but my brother ended up meeting his wife on there.
  • Petal, why such a long day? Do you usually work such a long shift?
    image
  • It isn't difficult work but it wears me out. One of the morning shift teachers can't work so I'm covering. It's extra money but it makes me useless afterward.

    I wish I could eat crab. It's yummy but I'm allergic :(

ETA: Eww, Hockey. I would have quit too.

    <div>Holy smokes! 'Awkward' with a capital 'A'! </div><div>Did you ever tell him?</div>

  • Hockey, that is too funny!
  • OkCupid has a billion questions to answer (not required, but the more you answer, the better the chances it will match you with someone compatible). You can weigh each question as "not important", "slightly important", "very important", and "mandatory". It's really neat.

Then, when you browse profiles, it will show you your percentage and compare your answers so you can see the bigger differences. The questions are user-submitted and multiple choice, so you get all kinds of stuff, anything from "Do you want kids?" to "How many books do you own?" to "Do you believe in aliens?"
  • Lol i don't know if I told him.....I think I told my mom...she laughed and then said something about being glad we had a lot in common or something.

I switched to Yahoo after that! hahaha

  • Hockey: gahh! your brother?!
erin: FI and I met on eharmony.  I had also tried match, but didn't like the guys I met there- very flakey.  Good luck!  Online dating, in some ways, makes the whole dating process much easier.

  • I think it'd be funny for H & I to both sign up for Match.com just to see if it thinks we are compatible.

Petal, my heart breaks that you cannot eat crab. Just crab or all shellfish or seafood in general?

Is it sad I'm starting to worry about Halloween already?? I worked at a Halloween store last year to pick up some extra money and I'm dying to do it again.

  • My membership for yahoo personals had actually expried, but I still had a profile and could see matches and send generic one liners. I saw my H's profile and sent some stupid line about liking his profile or something, and he responded. I had to re-up my membership to continue an actual conversation with him. I joke with him saying at least he was worth the $34.95 or something (I don't remember how much it was) I paid to "meet" him.

Wally- I can eat fish, clam chowder, calamari and mussels. I don't like shrimp at all. I don't know if I'm allergic to anything else but definitely crab. I love crab cakes and I'm sad I can't eat them.

  • Ha.. MK that's funny.

I have no experiences with online dating.  I met H at work.

Ooh. Diving tonight.  I like diving :).
  • Heb that sounds like it would be a fun and interesting job. I need someone to have a Halloween party so I have something to wear a costume to.

  • I had some really odd dates from online dating communities.

Anyone want to share their worst date?

Mine was some guy I met online...he wanted to meet in his town and the only thing I knew was Walmart.  So he suggested we meet outside Wally world.  As he walked up I could tell I wasn't attracted to him, but figured what the hell.  He walked up and said "Wow you look completely different from your picture...that is a good thing".  Then decided we needed to go inside to walmart.  We walked around and he started harrassing a poor girl who worked there about the movie selection.

Next we decided we were going out to eat.  We drove our cars to his place and he ran inside real quick.  He came back, we got in his car and he said "Ok I only have coupons to KFC, is that ok?"  I say fine...we go to the drive thru and he starts hassling the girl on the drive thru, saying he wants his chicken fresh.  Dude it is KFC.

We decide to eat it back at his place, and as we walk in the door he says "just keep your head down and follow me"....yup it was his parents' house...and they were sitting in the livingroom watching tv in their pjs.  So we eat and start watching American History X.  He starts trying to make out with me during the movie....dude this is not a make out to movie.  I finally  tell him I have to go..he follows me to my car and I try to say thanks...but I don't think it would work out.

The next few days he started messaging me online bitching that he had fun and we should keep seeing each other....NOPE!

  • I either haven't had any truly bad dates or I've blocked them from my mind.  I did date a guy a couple of times that kissed like a fish.  All puckered up.  He was known as "Fishboy" for the remainder of my college career.

</div><div>There was the guy who told me about his racist grandma on the first date, the guy who had to prove that he had a photographic memory by reciting everything I had said back verbatim at the end of the date, and the guy who stood me up and then texted me two weeks later to say that he had broken his arm but still wanted to go out... huh?  I didn't go out with any guy more than once until I met my FI.

  • I never really had a bad date per se. I just wasn't attracted to some of them once I met them in real life.
