Shower Thank You's

My bridal shower is coming up quick and my bridesmaids have done an awesome job getting everything together.  Most of them are financially strapped, but have still made generous contributions to my shower [even though I assured them that this was unnecessary, but appreciated].  I was wondering if a financial gift [NOT money] something like a gift certificate for their updo's/nails/salon treatment of their choice (I would never say YOU HAVE TO USE THIS FOR MY WEDDING) and a gas card would be a silly gift.  I just want them to have something they can really use and will also need.

Is it wrong to give this type of gift?

Re: Shower Thank You's

  • Not a silly gift, but if it was me, I might prefer something less practical than a gas card. Maybe something like Amazon or Target, so they could use it for something practical, but it could also be a fun treat :).
  • A gift card is a really nice idea. I wouldn't do something that implies it is for your wedding though. Even if you don't say it, if you give them something for up-do's/nails, that is what it looks like. Go with something they will definitely use for themselves. Then, if you can cover all or part of the cost of hair/nails/etc for the wedding, do it (fyi, you should be paying for all of it if you are requiring it for the wedding anyway).
  • Nope, not requiring it! I know better than that!

The not-so-practical but could be practical idea, I really like! Thank you :)
  • Just remember to include an actual card as well... and with gas prices these days, I wouldn't mind a gas card but Target or a salon would work too. Especially if you found a salon/spa certificate that your girls could use for EITHER wedding stuff (nails or something) OR getting a massage [:

  • I hate paying for gas so personally I would LOVE a gas card!

Amazon or Target would still be great too. :)
