Unbelievable

I read this gem from the newest issue of Brides in the mail today. Here is some advice from a wedding expert:

"Make guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive by writing them personal notes and leaving them at the entrance to the ceremony. By giving cards, you can skip the receiving line, giving you more time for photos and the reception."

Oh. My. I just...wow...really?!?!!

Re: Unbelievable

  • Wow.
1 - who has time for that?
2 - we didn't have a receiving line, and did table visits instead... that is a moot point.

    Ugh.
  • I questioned that too. But the bridal magazines have no substance anyway. I just look at the pictures.

    Nice!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I agree with Loopy, who has time for that?

Also, does this so-called expert expect the entire wedding to be just the B & G's friends?  There were a bunch of friends of my parents and DH's parents most of whom I've briefly met once or twice (Mom: "Hey lovesclimbing, say hi to so-and-so"   Me: "Hi so-and-so"    So-and-so:"Oh my goodness, I haven't seen you since you were this high.  They're just growing so fast.  Did I tell you about blah blah blah, lovesclimbing's mom?"  Me: *goes and runs off to play again")

There's no way I could write them a "personal" note.

Also, how long does that person think a receiving line lasts?  I had over 100 guests and it took less than half an hour.
