Re: Rach

• Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about this. I don't really like mixing my sweets and savories.

• I had bacon flavored toffee once. It was surprisingly delicious. But I like the sweet/salty combo a lot.

I read that as sweaty/salty at first. Ew.

I guess I do like chocolate-covered pretzels, so...

• It was like eating breakfast. In cupcake form.

It kind of tasted like a pancake, with syrup, and a chunk of bacon in the middle. While it was good, it's not a cupcake I would eat daily....(okay, yes I would, it's a cupcake....)

It's not my favorite flavor combination, but I would think it's like when people have pancakes and bacon and mix everything together with syrup. The sweet and savory, crispy and cakey tastes must be what people like. I used to serve pancakes in a diner with eggs and bacon stacked on top, and most people would just cut everything up, mix it together, and dump syrup on it. I feel like I'm missing out on something because I don't like to do that!

ETA: Or what Rach said. Haha.

Dude. No. Just no. Bacon is the best invention in the history of ever. True story.

• That scares me a little. But have you ever had pig candy? It's bacon rolled in brown sugar and pecans and then baked in the oven. Heaven.
• Must be the texture. My daughter has issues with it too, and I still love her. So I guess my love for you will survive. I'm sure you are relieved to hear that.

• Huh. Good to know. Thank you!

Salt, you're not alone. While bacon doesn't make me stabby, I don't love it.

• I can take or leave bacon. I went through a period of my life where I simply could not be around bacon. I will only eat turkey bacon now and that is probably no more than 5 times a year.

[QUOTE]I could live on bacon and country ham and proscuitto and other such things. YUMMY.

I like proscuitto, but ham is my mortal enemy. I cannot deal with the pink meat. AT.ALL.

I blame my mother. I have always had a "I'll eat a piece to make mother happy" relationship with ham. But then one easter sunday in a city far far away in a time a long long time ago, smokey had just dragged herself home from a bender. (We had partied in a hotel room and then stayed the night.) I was HUUUUUUNG over. I was resting comfortably in my bedroom when my mother called me to come help her.

There was the ham glittering it in its pink horror. Just sitting e in the pan. Staring at me. Perhaps there was ham gel on it, perhaps that is my overactive imagination. I saw it jiggle. I swear I did.

So my mother has this honey mustard glaze that needs to go on said ham. Apparently, I am to help her with this task. So I use a LONG spoon to try to scoop the honey mustard onto the mocking ham. My mother chastises me...you put the glaze on with your hand. So I dip my fingers into the cool honey mustard and proceed to try to rub the hulking pink meat. The smell of the mustard hits my nose, the pink jelly jiggles, the ham mocks, and my stomach unleashes hell.

I literally RUN from the kitchen to the bathroom. I can hear my mother laughing the whole way.

I hate ham.

Rach, we're wrapping up. I think my last return due on Thursday is the one I'm working on now. W00t!

You are not alone, I don't like bacon either. Especially when it is hard and crunchy. I do love the way it smells while cooking though.
