Beach house for guests?

Hi! This is my first post, I'm typically just a lurker since I am in the VERY beginning stages of wedding planning - just getting ideas here & there. However, future husband & I are for sure wanting a beach wedding and there comes the point of which I don't know if guests will expect us to pay for them a place to stay or if they assume they will do so on their own? We plan on renting a big enough beach house for close family, but I'm pretty sure our budget won't allow us to do the same for friends. Thoughts? Is this rude of me? Thanks in advance!

  • I don't expect my accommodations to be paid for by the bride and groom, no matter where the wedding is.

  • Thank you guys! :]

  • Your guests are adults, they can figure out their own accomodations.

I was married at the beach last Sept and none of our guests expected us to pay for their accommodations.  Most people realize that with a beach wedding, there will more than likely be some amount of travel involved and that they are responsible for their accommodations.  It would be no different than you having a wedding in your hometown and the guests that live out of state that are travelling to get there.....they realize they will be footing the bill for their accommodations.

Most of our friends went in together and rented a beach house for the week and split the costs between them.

Definitely make sure that you call a few hotels in the area and block off rooms so that your guests can receive a discount on their room if they book by a certain date.  You would want to be sure to include this info on an enclosure card with your invitations.

I do not think you should have to pay for their accomodations - just make sure you send Ssave the  dates - especially if you are getting married in the busy beach season so people can get rooms reserved early
