Random knot glitch question

Yeah I know I'm being a post whore. Luckily for you guys I'm working tomorrow and Friday at least so you'll get a break.  Too bad I'll miss FFF again.

So, you know how the knot messed up a few screen names and gave people random long strings of numbers instead? Is there any way to tell what numbers correspond to what screen name?

I got a PM from someone thanking me for coming to their rescue in a post. I THINK I know what post it is in reference to, but the PM is from a SN that I can't find anywhere when I search, and that I'd rather not post here because lots of people were (I thought unnecessarily) mean, and the post was posted by a long string of numbers person, and I'm curious if there's any way to tell if I'm right and they're the same person.

If not I may never know who I rescued for sure.

Re: Random knot glitch question

  • As far as I know, there is no way to tell.  When the new format took over, those people's names were changed and Knot IT still hasn't been successful in changing them back.

It could be that you don't even know her, she was just being nice and thanking you.

  • To clarify - the long string of numbers isn't a one time thing that happens when they post.  Some people are just stuck that way.

  • Hmmm, then I must be wrong since the PM came after the post if they can't be changed back.  Unless she made a new name.  Then it could be anyone!

I'll just have to accept that I'm fantastic at rescuing people.
