Multiple "Stepmoms"

My H and I are having  a cocktail hour/reception only as we previously had a private ceremony. The problem is that my FIL has never settled down and has fathered several children with several women. My F wants to invite all of his siblings/half siblings. Most of them are adults, however two are minors and will need to be accompanied by their respective mothers (one is out of state and the other is just plain nuerotic and will not let the child go anywhere without her even if he is with his father). Too make matters more confusing my H lost his mom when he was 9 so there is no real MIL. I am trying to figure out if i should be getting his two "stepmoms" corsages for the reception or don't get any for them as both have since seperated from his father. Both my mother and grandmother will have one and both of our fathers will have boutenieres. My H wont as he will be in military dress uniform and I will only have a tossing bouquet as we are not having the ceremony. Any advice would ne greatly appreciated.

Re: Multiple "Stepmoms"

  • All this ruckus over whether or not you should pin some flowers to some people? Just do what your heart tells you. Giving them corsages probably is not necessary, because it doesn't sound like they "mothered" your FI at all, but if you did do it, it would be a very nice gesture. So whatever. And ask your FI how he feels about it.

Wouldn't it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong?
  • Ask your fiance if he wants someone to wear a boutonniere, or all of them, or none of them.

I have a half-sister, 12, who will be accompanied by her mother, who is my ex-stepmom.  She will be there, everyone will be cool about it, but she will not be recognized.  Dad's other ex-wife will not be present, because she is BSC.  His current fiance will be.
As long as you don't let it get messy, it won't be.

  • They sound more like "aunts" than stepmoms, so I probably wouldn't unless your FI asks to.
