S/O Grey Hair

If you have grey hair, do you dye it?  If you don't, do you plan to?

I feel like I won't dye it because at some point... I'll have to stop, right?  I kind of hope to be one of those women with spectacular grey hair.

Re: S/O Grey Hair

  • If I do I can't see 'em over my blonde.

  • I have some.  I get highlights.  It's not bad enough yet where I need to do all over cover.  I'm a random plucker when I do see them......which is usually about the time I seriously need a highlight refresher.
  • I have them and I dye it. Because I'm already chubby which ages me. Chubs + grey hair is just frumpy on me. I'll be an old lady with perfectly chestnut hair.
  • I haven't decided yet. I'm hoping that despite my few random white hairs that grow all weird in the front of my head, that I'll be like my mom and not go grey for a long time.  She's almost 57 and still has almost all brown hair.  She's never dyed her hair in her life. I look like her in every other way, so I'm crossing my fingers that I get this too.
  • Oh I'm gonna dye that shiit.

  • I'm starting to get a few greys here and there, but I have one whole patch on the right side of my head that's been grey since I was a kid. I'm pretty used to it already. I doubt I'll worry too much about it once I have more.

  • I dye my hair, but not really to cover the grey.  I just get bored.  The hiding my few grey hairs is just a bonus.

  • I'll dye it when I get them until I'm all grey.
  • I don't yet except the occasional random one. My sister dyed hers to match her natural dark brown for years, then gave up and went plantinum blonde out of nowhere. It actually looks really good on her, and we have similar coloring. So when the time comes, I'll probably dye for a while but may eventually try blonde if keeping them brown is too hard.
  • Yes, I get them. No I do not dye my hair (yet anyway). I am still able to get most of them by just plucking and occasionally go on a grey hunting rampage. Like I said in the other thread, I get waaay more if I am stressed out. In grad school they were out of control, but since I graduated they have calmed down considerably.
  • I think I have a couple, but I've been dyeing my hair for years just because I don't like my natural color so it's not an issue.  Eventually I'll get one of those cute little pixie cuts and hopefully have fantastic silver hair and be very chic :)  That's the plan anyway.

  • I h ave probably about 75% gray now :(  I've been dying it since I was 17 for grays.  Now I have to do it about every 3-4 weeks.  I wish I had pretty grays - one of my coworkers has beautiful dark brown/gray hair.  I'm not so lucky - mine is wirey (sp?) and coarse.  Not pretty.  I just have my mom dye it cause it gets hella expensive to go to the salon every month.

  • I'm about to the point where I want to dye to color gray. I used to color it all the time for the sake of coloring. I plucked the grays when it was just a few, but it's getting to be too many (all on the right side of my head). Unfortunately my hair is really dark and the hairs are white, so they can really stand out.

On the other hand, I try not to color too often because my hair is very long and fragile. It's been awhile since I colored, and I'll probably wait until January (for FI's holiday party).
  • I have had grey hairs for a few years now and I am only 28. It sucks having jet black hair bc they stick out like a sore thumb. Most of them are in the front of my head and I just pluck them out with the tweezers (yeah, I know what they say about when you pluck one out, 2 more grow back or whatever) bc I can't stand them. I also have a few that grow here and there on the rest of my head that I have H check for them periodically and pull them out.

I have actually never colored my hair, and want to wait until I get a lot of grey to start.

That's what I'm worried about.  I think if it's like that for me, I'm going to have to find a magician to paint a Dorian Gray picture for me or something else very dramatic.
  • Mine was just dyed a fresh shade of brown last night! Laughing

I've had grey hair since I was 18ish.
  • So late to this thread, but I've had grey hair since I was 18 and was 100% by the time I was 36.

I dye it and will continue to do so until I hit an age where I think it's appropriate to be 100% grey.

  • I have lots, and I dye it because I'm only 32 dammit.  But in 8 years I will embrace it and do this:

  • Well as I get closer to that age, I'll start lightening the color so I don't go from Chestnut Brown to Grey over night.

My 96 year old grandma still has her greys colored a very light blonde.  Guess it runs in the family.

  • No greys and no dying.

Rumor has it that I will go pink when I get older....

I don't get married often, but when I do, I do it in Las Vegas.
