Hair!

I don't know what to do with mine for the wedding! I thought I was set on a style but then my Mom and sister saw me in the dress and said I should wear it down and not up. My hair is super long (for me) and reaches down to the back of my bra (not sure how else to describe it). It isn't very thick though and I am worried I will end up looking straggly. Opinions please? If it would help, I will post a pic of the dress, my hair and the picture option for the updo...

pretty dress! are you thinking about wearing your hair up like that too or a different style? if you decide to wear it down you could get a hairstylist to blow it out and add some product to it, that could make it look thicker.

I might be a bit biased but I am a big fan of updos. I think hair that is down becomes straight and flat by the end of the night (espically in the south!). That dress is beautiful, and the model has a updo and it looks great!! An alternative is half up and half down!?!

It totally depends on the hair type, Pinky. My hair gets curly and big in the humidity. Although, I am a fan of half up too!

Grace, I LOVE that dress. I don't think it would be bad to have it up but like Pinky, I just love updos...I would also consider a half-up, half-down deal. It sounds like, from what you described, that your hair is similar to mine, and my hair does not hold styles (even done by stylists) when it is down. It needs pins and knots and ties to keep it in place or it ends up stringy and flat...maybe that is not the case with you, I don't know.

Google "half updo" think it'd look great w/ the dress (which I LOVE, btw). I, too, have long thin hair, but Margo styled it in a half up/half down style, pulled back at the temples, & it stayed the same all day & night.I hate this picture, but...here's what I had. I think your dress would look great w/ something similar, but more wavy & less curly? http://tinyurl.com/m2ocdc

There is a style on tk hair section where they show the bride with a do that is a loose updo where the pins can come out and the do becomes a half-up so. I'm thinking of doing this (although my hair is super thick, it does get kind of flat if it hangs down for too long). That way I can keep it up during the ceremony (in my case ceremonies) and then when/if I let it down at the reception it won't be stringy and flat.

aaawww grace, that is gorgeous!!!!my hair isnt very thick either and i doubt it would keep in an updo unless they waxed and sprayed it then i am afraid instead of looking pretty it would just look like a rats nest, straggly and frizzy.you could check out my bio for my number one pick on hair, that would look pretty with your dress. i am not sure my hair would even hold those curls either but i sure do like it.

although I love long hair - my hair doesn't hold curl when it's down so I've opted to wear it up. I also worry about my neck sweating if I wear my hair down all the day. Is that a concern for you?I would recommend wearing your hair up.

Here's that two-way style link. The next pic in the story shows the style down. They've got a few other two-way styles in that gallery that may be worth checking out if you like that idea. http://weddings.theknot.com/Real-Weddings/33066/detailview.aspx?type=3&id=33066

Totally love that dress, gah I love Maggies... anyway, I love the updo that the model is wearing with it, but perhaps something like this would work as well? (let's see how this goes, I'm the queen of not being able to get PIP to work)

OOOH - thank you for all the suggestions. I think I am going to try and find a nice medium between all up and all down. I LOVE the Carrie Underwood picture that Katherine posted!!!

i love the carrie underwood photo!! also if you are concerned that your hair is not thick enough for that. Sallys beauty supply sells real hair extensions; you only need to sew on the clips! You can wash it curl it straighten it to make it look the way you need it to look. My hair sounds about your length and i got them for only $20. something to think about ...i am definetly using mine =). hopefully my curls will hold!

I love the Carrie Underwood pic as well. It's one of my hair inspiration pics :-)

My MOH used that carrie underwood picture for her hair inspiration. It turned out great, but she was mad that by the end of night it fell. But who cares because in pictures it looked great!!
