Am I the only person...

Who thinks that George Michael's album Faith is awesome? It came out in '87, when I was a year old. My mom played this album constantly when I was a kid, and as a result, I freakin love it. What stupid music do you love?

  • Not a George Michael fan, but I may enjoy listening to Julianne Hough's CD (from Dancing with the Stars) from time to time. Please don't tell anyone. :)

  • Ok I officially feel old now!  :)  No it was an awesome album, too bad he is such a wreck now.
  • I wouldn't call it stupid music, but I quite often blast Dionne Warwick when I'm driving by myself.

I feel old now also. I graduated HS in '87.  I first heard of Wham! on a trip to Germany in '84.  I had the album 6 months before everyone else in the states.  Yes, I said album because cds were not sold until 1985.

I saw an interview with him not too long ago and he just looked bloated and puffy and turrible. He's definitely a wreck now, what with the bathroom shenanigans and all.  1987 was definitely the best year this dude will ever see.

  • In high school I was quite the Simon and Garfunkel fan.

  • You are going to be a sad panda when I tell you that album is banned in our house. It was playing when Mike got into his really bad car accident a while back and when he was stuck in his car it just kept droning on. Now it freaks him out :)

Remember the song, "The Way" by Fastball? Yeah I have that CD and I love the whole thing. I am a huge fan of old school Dolly Parton too.
  • You were a year old in 87.  Yikes that makes me feel ancient.  Yes, I loved the Faith album back in the day.  He wore a dangly cross earring in the video didn't he?  I forget.  lol.
  • Oh geez, that album came out when I was in high school. I feel really old now.

I love all kinds of terrible music that we listened to when I was young. The most embarrassing is probably The Carpenters.
  • Oh my, yep, feeling old.

Secret guilty music pleasure: Garth Brooks 'Ropin the Wind'

But if you ever ask again, I HATE country music!

  • I used to love some Sinead O'Connor ........ it reminds me of summer time as a kid sitting at the pool on rest break

This definitely does not qualify as stupid music. I am still a Simon and Garfunkel fan, and quite proud of it.

  • I'm closer to your mom's age than yours. Thanks for that little pick-me-up.

    Love the album though.
  • And what really cracks me up now is watching all the George Michael videos with the hot models in them. Who knew ole George was actually jonesin' for some man lovin the whole time? Actually, everyone should have known after the day-glo short shorts in the Wham video.

I was going to say this, but was afraid of making myself look like an even bigger old lady <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-embarassed.gif" border="0" alt="Embarassed" title="Embarassed" />
  • I'm not into whole albums, but really random songs.

One of my opne-the-windows-and-sunroof and jam out songs is: Annie Lennox - Walking on Broken Glass!

I love Faith - that is def another one to jam out to.
  • Alexia- I loooooove that song! And the video with John Malkovich.

Stack-Sinead O'Connor is also one of favorites.

  • uhm yeah.  Lynda, i think I got it on tape instead of the Album version

Class of 84 gal right here!

  • What was everyone's first album, tape, cd?

My first tape was UB40 - Red, red, wine (the single).  I rocked that out for a long time, and you couldn't tell me I wasn't cool!

My first CD was TLC - No Scrubs, it was kind of a little while after CD's came out but I had to wait a long time for my family to join the CD craze.
  • This is so sad, but my first CD was Ace of Base. That crazy Swedish (I think?) pop group who used a bunch of synthesizers.

  • My first tape was Beastie Boys 'License to Ill'.

My first CD was Janet Jackson (can't remember the name of the CD- circa ~1993'ish)

  • Faith was my absolutely favorite song when I was little.. I had not idea what i was singing, but I knew all the words.

Same with me. I knew almost the entire album by the time I was five. Also, Appetite for Destruction was another of my mom's favorites, so I was singing Sweet Child 'o Mine in my carseat.

  • I can't remember my first album - I think it was the Jackson 5 or Elvis, maybe even Andy Gibb?   Something very 70's

I can't remember my 1st tape or CD either.  I guess I'm getting old.

I do remember my 7th grade teacher giving us a 45 record as a xmas gift (he had a 2nd job in a record store).  It was the "Centerfold" by the J. Giles Band.  Everytime I hear that song I think of Mr Cipolini.

  • Faith is an awesome album.

And I love any and all music by ABBA.
AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers
  • Totally feel old too since I also graduated HS in 1987.  Although I have to say that my guilty pleasure is Earth Wind and Fire and other 70s greats.  They take me back to working construction with my dad when I was little and used to carry around his hammer in case he needed it.
  • Does anyone remember the movie Eddie and the Cruisers?  It had the most awesome music by a band called John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Boys.  The movie was on the other day and it made me so happy to hear that music again.
  • Also, I'm sad to admit that I've been on a Hall and Oates kick lately. "Rich Girl" is one of my favorite songs EVAR.
