Tip for a person you don't normally tip

Our venue got a new chef several months ago, and he's awesome.  He's really pushed them to make some smart decisions that are going to make the wedding a lot better and less stressful.  I want to tip him, but I'm undecided on how much.

Also, the venue doesn't really have a coordinator.  But, the manager, who has a minimal ownership interest, has been really helpful.  So I'd like to do something for him, too, although probably less.

Just FYI, the primary owner is a friend of my father's.  He's very nice, and has given us a great price, but is very, very scattered about it and hasn't really met with us much at all - he's left that to Chef and the manager.

  • For the Chef, maybe a thank you card saying what you told us, and then (depending on budget) a gift card or check for $50-100?

    Same for the manager.

If there is a way you can find out something they love, wine, eating out, home improvement, it's even better because you can make the gift card more personalized.
  • I agree with Alexia. I'd do a gift card for $50-100 for each, depending on budget.

  • I was thinking $100-ish for the chef and $50-ish for the manager, so I'm glad I'm not completely off-base.

Ahahahaha!  I figured you had forgotten, and I didn't want to pester you.  But yeah, it's just under 3 weeks.  I am refusing to freak out, but I don't know if that's going to work.
