Evening?

Anyone here? Bueller?

I have adjusted to the high elevation here in New Mexico, which makes eating a lot easier. I went to the Aztec ruins today. They were super neat. I took some fun pics, one of which should make a pretty silly sig pic when I get back.

Anyone else do anything fun today?

Re: Evening?

  • I had a tough day at work.  Nothing major, just a lot going on at once.

Now I'm drinking some wine, DH some vodka, Chef D is finally relaxing.  We are watching TLC, with some flipping over to The Voice.

DH is leaving on Thursday for a few days, so we just want to hang out.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • button - glad you've adjusted well... I love visiting my dad in CO but hate trying to adjust to the elevation. Bleh.

Lynda - sorry about the rough day. Give Chef D a big hug and I'm sure it will help, even if only temporarily.

DH is snoring on the couch. He worked some overtime this afternoon, which is great because we definitely could use the extra money but it also means he gets home and crashes. I'm going through FB and saving wedding pics people have posted. The whole "online account photo share" thing really tanked for the wedding, which bums me out but whatever. A friend posted a link for 99 photos at a penny a piece earlier today and it expires tomorrow, so I'm going to try to get some of our friends' photos printed (since I don't have the disc back from the photographer yet) to satisfy my apparent need to frame some wedding prints.

My time would probably be better spent working on homework, but oh well.

Ooh, and new Sons of Anarchy season tonight! :)
  • Kelly - sorry the share your photos didn't work out.   One bonus from staying at a house with 18 other people on the wedding night was the next morning we all swapped cards to download on laptops.  I had pictures to take with me on the honeymoon.

  • Hiya!  I just got home a little bit about.  Busy day.  Worked this morning, came home and picked up the dog and took her up north of Denver for the National show/specialty for her breed which is being held here this week, picked up 8 pints of strawberries at a berry farm up there on my way home and I cleaned up the kitchen and made sure I have all the supplies I need to make jam tomorrow. I'm whooped.

Glad you're enjoying NM Button.  I was wondering where you were that you needed to adjust to the elevation.

KB - sorry your photo share stuff didn't pan out.  Hope you can get some good ones out of your friends FBs.
  • Loopy - what breed do you have? I've never seen anyone post about shows on here before (I've grown up showing dogs)...

Our friends/family put well over 300 photos on FB, so there's plenty good ones on there to choose from and save. It's just a pain in the behind to go through one by one and save each of them. Not to mention, the print-quality isn't great when they're downloaded from FB. But it's better than nothing!
  • KB - I have a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.  She is not a show dog.  She is too small to meet the standard and has a bad tail set, but we have participated in many of the working events with her (pack hiking, weight pull, drafting, and done training for agility).
  • Evening y'all! KB- I'm sorry your photo share didn't work out. I paid for a service, so, I hope it works out. But, I got it half price on Groupon so, if it doesn't I guess it won't be as bad.

  • That's super cool, Loopy!

I had an irritating day at work.  Then I came home and found this out:  I'm in a fantasy football league with H's coworkers.  They  have two leagues, a "competitive" league and a "for fun" league (though they're both for money....so, it really doesn't make sense).  Anyway, there are two wives playing--me, and another pharmacist's wife.  We're both in the "for fun" league because we're new (to their leagues, anyway).  Well, the other wife was the high scorer this past week by 25 points.  Yeah, H found out today that this chick's H (who is in the competitive league with my H) drafted her team, set it up for the week, and is going to be managing it.  That pisses me off.

  • Loopy - that's awesome! I've always done conformation, but I'm fascinated by working events. I ran a "working certificate" (retrieving on land & water) this summer for the first time and it was a blast. There's nothing like seeing dogs do what they were originally bred to do.

  • I'm pretty pissed.  The only reason she's playing at all is so they have double the chance to win the money.  It's stupid.

  • J&K - I'd be irritated too.  I'm only in TK's league.  But H wanted to go for a hike, so I drafted for his team.  He says this gives him the right to blame me when he doesn't do well.  To which I respond he should have done his own draft instead of going hiking.

KB - it is really neat to watch them do what they were bred for.  I might go up there again tomorrow afternoon to watch the herding instinct test.  I almost signed Autumn up for that, but I didn't get my act together to get the paperwork turned in on time.  :).
  • J&K - are there some rules to the league or something that says that's not okay? That's seriously not cool. Those are the times I feel like people take that shiz entirely too seriously.
  • Well, I mean, it's kind of understood that you manage your own team.  There's not a technical rule, but it's unethical, haha.

  • It is pretty unethical.  As far as FF goes :).

Loopy, we try not to broadcast where we are when we first get to our work site. It's not like we are doing top secret work, but sometimes entities aren't aware we are coming. Anyway, we are in northern New Mexico about an hour from Colorado. Not the most riveting place I've been to but it's a new place. We are going to go to Four Corners later this week.
