Evening Thread?

How is everyone?

DH has to cook for a basketball team at the arena tonight so I'm by myself.  Trying to figure out what to have for dinner and wondering if I should have some wine.

What are you all up to tonight?

Re: Evening Thread?

  • Hi!

Just hanging out at home.  We had an early dinner because I was starving.
  • I started my taxes.

Turns out I don't get an education credit because, even though I was a student this year, I paid all of my tuition in 2010 -_-

I opened the bottle of wine my parents gave me for christmas to console myself.  and it's disgusting.
  • aww.  I just found out one of chef-D siblings has parvo.    Scary.   Chef-D had his shots yesterday everything is okay with him.

  • Aw that's sad lynda. I am still getting my hair done. Woo!
  • I think wine and ice cream should be on the menu every night!

I made veggie crock pot chili for dinner and it was yummy.

All these kitties and puppies need to stop getting sick. It is too sad.

  • Hi. I'm exhausted. Just got home from work and waiting for H to get home so we can eat, go to the gym, and then I can go to bed.

    Yes! :)

I am still at work sadly. I will be opening some wine when I get home and catching up on tivo while H is away.

  • I admit I've been taking a little bit of a risk with Chef-D..  We take him right outside our apartment complex to go to the bathroom, but NOT at the grassy area all the other dogs go.   We also take him to the bar downstairs.  The only dogs allowed all have their vaccinations.  Our apartment requires us to prove they have their shots, so hanging out in the lobby is okay.

Maybe I will just keep him homebound for another 6 weeks.   Which sucks because that is key socialization also.   Umm..

  • I am a litte sad.  I wanted waffles with my new from xmas waffle maker since FI is working tonight but the milk is toxic in the fridge (at least it is to old), and I am too lazy to go to the store, so no waffles for me tonight.  Maybe tomorrow.

On a happy note, my daughter just texted that she is coming home for the weekend.  Yay!, back to the sad note, FI and I are going away again, Ugh.  Oh well, at least the dog and my daughter can bond.  Happy again, she is staying through Sunday.  I get to spend Sunday with her!  Woot woot.  Okay excitement all over.
  • Evening. I'm working on book and class stuff. Mostly book stuff now that I've handled part of the class discussions.

I made a new chili recipe tonight, chili con carne. But I used deer meat instead of ground beef. It was the first time I've ever had deer and damnit, I like it. But I feel bad because Bambi had to die.
  • sesh, by chance was it Pennsylvania deer?  Glad class went well today.  You are going to rock this!

Hi!  I just took a nap.  I had to force myself not to sleep more than an hour and a half or I didn't think I'd be able to go to sleep tonight.  It's going to be an early night for me tonight cause I only got less than 3 hours of sleep last night cause the 3rd shift supervisor called in sick so I got the call at 10 last night asking if I could go in at 3 to cover the rest of the night.  I shouldn't have answered the phone when I didn't recognize the number.  Blah.

*/end whine... at least I'll try.
  • I just got home from dinner. I went out with my cousin so that was nice.

Lynda - I love the new pic of Chef-D.

  • Good evening!  I just got back from the gym, and am now planning a lazy night in.

Sesh - I love deer on occasion.  I don't eat it often (and I would get sick of it if I did), but I do like a good venison in hunting season.
  • Hola.  I'm just hanging out watching some TV.  Nothing exciting.

  • Lynda - I think as long as you are careful about where you take him, you'll probably be okay.  You have to weigh the risk of infection against the benefits of socialization.  People I know have taken their dogs to like stand outside non pet oriented stores to meet strangers and stuff.  So the risk is low cause not many other dogs go there, but you get some human socialization out of it.  What you've described is probably about as safe as you can get without staying home entirely.
  • Hello!

I'm just sitting here debating on which grad program I want to apply to. One requires me to choose an advisor and I don't know if I can put the prof that I actually want because he's not a full time prof. I have no idea who to ask about this :S

  • Hello! I just got back from the grocery. Everyone and their annoying mom was there. Soooo glad to be home.
  • Sesh - I think deer is very gamey.  And hunting deer is essential to controlling the population.  Otherwise our cars will control the population, so don't think of it as Bambi.

Hi Fezz!!  I love that you are having a boy - but I confess, I hoped it was a girl.  A girl with those grey and yellow nurseries you've been Pinning = awesome.  A boy can still have grey and yellow, right?
  • MUN - sorry you don't like the wine.  Is it spoiled, or just not to your taste?

I have no idea. One of his customers/former professor gave it to him, along with some cube steaks and sausage.

So I'm watching Big Bang Theory on demand and it's the one where Penny throws a Halloween party, and her ginormous muscle-y ex shows up in a loincloth. The dude is a jerk, but holy crap he's got a good body. Good thinkg H is asleep next to me. I'm drooling.
  • Loops- We're still using grey, but I think we're going to go with blues and reds. :)

  • Avsfan - in the department you are applying to, is there a graduate degree coordinator (either a staff person or a faculty person?)  My grad school department had a specific individual in charge of the graduate program, and that would be who I would recommend asking about advisors.

    <div>Thanks for this.</div><div>
</div><div>We have not (nor do we plan to) take him to real dog friendly places until he has all of his shots.  The bar is just down stairs.  We know the owner and he only allows dogs of owners he trusts in there.   Most of those owners live in our building, which again must verify they have been vaccinated.  There are no stray dogs in this area.  And honestly very few dogs at all because it's mostly business buildings with a few random apartments thrown in (all which have the same policy dogs must prove their vaccinations).   We are not taking him down Bourbon St on anything.</div>

<div>I don't think it's spoiled.  It's more like "wine" than actual wine...it's some chocolate raspberry nonsense.  I thought it was going to be like, "notes of chocolate and raspberry" but no, it is chocolate and raspberry flavored.</div>
  • Meg - I actually just found the persons email  before I saw your post. It was hidden in a little tiny box. I sent an email. I hope I can use the prof I want. Otherwise I'm not applying because the only other two I can use for what I'm interested in are huge jackasses.

So... question.. and keep in mind I'm sleep deprived so I may just not be thinking coherently.

H got me some underwear from Victoria's Secret.  It arrived today.  It's cute.  The bras, not totall comfortable and not my usual cut.  One of them is not lined, and TMI I often am cold so I usually wear lined/lightly padded bras to keep from poking anyone's eyes out LOL and the other is holy push up and I just don't know that it fits well, plus it's got little rhinestoney things on the bow between the boobs and that stuff looks cute when you're only wearing the bra, but I usually find that it sticks out and shows as bumps under shirts sometimes if it falls in the wrong place.  The underwear is all lacy and nylon and whatever... I'm a cotton girl.  He said he got it for me cause he wants me to have nice things and feel sexy and whatever, but for me underwear is about function and comfort day to day.  I have some nice stuff for wearing out, but we don't go out that often that I need a whole wardrobe of sexy lingerie, and I'd rather wear cotton to work cause it's more comfortable and I'm on my feet all day blah blah blah... I love that he tried to do something nice for me, but really... it's a lot of $$ for something I just won't get much use out of, but with H being gone I don't want to be all "thanks but no thanks about it".  WWYD?  Return all of it?  Some of it?  None of it?

ETA - First world problem... I know.  I'm lucky to be in a position my H can spend $$ on sexy underwear for me. :)
