gifts for the parents

My parents are still married however my FI parents are not. My FFIL is remairried and my FMIL is not, do we spend the same on everyone? How do you figure out how much you spend?

Re: gifts for the parents

  • I would worry less about the amount spent on each parent and more about what it is that you're getting them.

This.  And remember this advice throughout life.  When it come to birthdays, anniversaries, parties, etc.  Life isn't about the amount of money we spend on a person, but the thought that goes into the gift.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • ditto PPs.

We spent more on my parents because we ended up getting my dad his own gift and both of our moms got albums after the wedding.  (H's dad passed several years ago).  But if we hadn't seen something that just screamed "perfect dad gift" to me we probably would have given my parents the album together.  It really doesn't matter how much you spend.
