Sleepy-time Poll

As I was lying in bed last night trying for 3 effin' hours to fall asleep, I decided to poll you ladies (and gentlemen, if you're out there).  How long does it usually take you to fall asleep at night?

Also, you will be awarded 1 Coco-buck if you offer a suggestion on how to fall asleep faster.

Re: Sleepy-time Poll

  • I put 30 minutes or less, but I can only go to bed when I'm tired. Which, as an adult, is often.

Now, as a kid, I would lay in bed awake forever, because I had a specific bedtime but was never tired when it came around.

  • These days I fall asleep right away.

The reason is simple. I work for myself and make my own hours -- so I go to bed when I'm actually TIRED, rather than trying to force myself into some set schedule.

When I have to follow someone else's hours, it can take hours for me to fall asleep because I'm trying to make myself go to bed on a schedule that's not mine.

DH and I usually get in bed around the same time, read for a while, lights out and we're both usually asleep in minutes.
  • I have found that watching old episodes of Friends on DVD puts me straight to sleep. It's crazy. I love the show and know the episodes very well, so I can close my eyes and still know what's happening. Somewhere in that is how I find sleep.

My sister also watches Friends DVDs for the exact same reason! She can quote you pretty much every line at this point.
