Shocked - A PJ - Themed Wedding?

Someone on WW is really considering having a wedding where people come in the pajamas?  What are the majority of the responses to this mess?  "That's ADORABLE!"  "Ooooh FUN!"  I think now I have seen everything.

Re: Shocked - A PJ - Themed Wedding?

  • ok I'm stupid...what is this WW   ??
  • I can't bring myself to click on anything that has to do with WW.  I will not cross contaminate the knot.

However, from just hearing the word PJ's and wedding in the same sentence.  YIKES.
  • Is she eight years old, carries a ratty teddy bear and wears a training bra?

  • oh my.  what about your skanky friends who come in lingerie?

  • Skippy, it's Wedding Wire.

Let's please refrain from a website/board invasion, please.  Those get nasty and result in bannings and then we get a talking-to from the Knot Admins b/c we make the Knot look bad.  It's just a pain.  Talk about here if you want but save me and ring_pop some trouble.

  • I think if I showed my face over there again there would be girls with pitch forks at my door later this evening. Or should I say, "beetches" with pitchforks?

    I reallllly want to though.

I'm finding myself weirdly in the non-hate camp as well. I mean, I don't think it's bad etiquette.

  • What about for people who sleep naked or only in their underpants?
That wedding could really interesting, really fast.
  • Gotcha Dani.  I wasn't trying to start an invasion.  I just couldn't walk on by this one.  I have not voiced any affiliation with TK! :)
  • did anyone notice the disturbing pictures on that page?

The first one being the girl looking in the mirror dressed as a bride, and the 2nd being the early ninties glamour shot.

  • Yeah that's terrible.

I think the poster who suggested this for b parties actually has a good idea if they're so set on it.  I mean I think people just get wrapped up in being unique to the point that they don't think like normal people anymore.

But wouldn't this fall under the same category of, "You can't tell your guests what to wear, unless the venue has a dress code"?
  • To Daff and Sarah, I just don't know how I'd be comfortable for long periods of time in my pajamas.  I can't imagine how the pics would look.  If this was a bridal shower idea, I'd say, whatever.
  • I wouldn't host a PJ themed wedding, but I wouldn't mind being a guest at one. I have more fun when I'm comfortable.
  • re: The last wedding Wire invasion - Dani - I totally hear you and have no reason to go over there, but WE make the knot look bad? Nothing bad went down AT ALL over there. It was all over here. The only 'bad' thing that went down over there was telling people straight up how their ideas would affect people in their weddings.

I guess telling a girl her Ed Hardy themed wedding sucked was pretty mean. But after that, it was mostly just a lot of reasoning (or not) with them, in a way that was admittedly deprecating and overly sarcastic. But, there were no curses, or personal attacks though over there... at least what I remember or was involved in.
  • I don't completely hate the idea, but I think it's kind of strange.  I kind of want to know what makes the bride think "pajamas" when she hears the word "wedding."  I wouldn't want to wear pajamas to a wedding...

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

That may be true, but those girls don't typically understand or want to hear our reasoning, so to them we're just "mean" or whatever.  Like that crazy chick that posted last night.  There's a reason some girls choose the Knot and others choose WW or other boards.  I'm not saying no one can post there, by all means, do what you want, I'm just asking to make everyone life easier here to not turn it into an invasion.  I wouldn't normally say a post like this one would lead to an invasion but given some BSC chick from WW was here last night and that resulted in a 9 or 10 page post, the odds are up right now.

  • I just kinda think that for certain couples, weird weddings make sense. Like that couple that got married at Taco Bell. I wouldn't do it, but I wouldn't be too upset if I got invited to that sort of weird wedding, if it fit the couple and they fed me and did all the things that gracious hosts should do.

And who knows? Maybe there is a dress code. Maybe she's getting married in bed.

  • I would rather be told to wear my pajamas to someone's wedding than to wear an orange formal dress.  But I do agree that it is rather odd...

  • Yeah, I know what you mean. I think often what makes some people think weddings means you can do whatever, to whomever, whenever and be hugged by your internet friends for it. I must be missing some girly gene somewhere.

Related Rant - It is just frustrating in general because I think a lot of ladies on this board (myself included) do truly take the time to give serious and thoughtful responses. I also can be right there with the snarky ones along with every one else... but in the end, I do really want to see people have a happy wedding experience. If it means taking a dose of common sense, so be it. It frustrates me to hear we are the 'mean' board a lot of the time because, amongst the various funny/snarky digs at the OP, there is SO much wisdom and well intentioned advice.

  • i'm most comfy in my jammies so i'd be all about it. that's just me, though.
  • I'd go and I'm sure I'd have fun.  Better that than the "Worlds of Love" theme that was floated here a day or two ago.
  • I think whenever you do something too out there for a wedding it's poor form. I would be totally stressed out at the idea of a PJ wedding. I don't want folks seeing me in my crappy lounge around the house clothes! I'd have to buy something new, and it would be really confusing what to buy/wear.

A lot of the etiquette rules about what to wear to a wedding aren't to make things difficult, they're to make things easier by setting clear expectations on what behavior should be IMO.
