AW - I think I found my dress!

I ordered it, but if it doesn't fit or if it looks ridiculously young girl-ish on me (I'm old), I'll return it.  I'm hoping to soften the girlishness by adding a small jacket or something on the shoulders - we'll see.  Anyway, here it is:

Re: AW - I think I found my dress!

  • Very, very, very, very, very, very, very cute.

  • It's a little juvenile for my taste, but I don't know what you look like, how old you are, or what your style is.

  • Its cute but I kind of wonder what you look like? I'm anxious to see it on you
  • If you can see what I see when I post, there's a small picture of me in the corner, but I don't know how to add a larger one as a signature, like many of you have.

I AM old (43), but I love all the vintage-y stuff.  Frankly, I look my age (or older) and don't delude myself into thinking I'm young for my age.  Is the consensus that this is too young girly, or does (as I hope) the vintage-ness of it suggest that a woman of my age would have worn it as a cocktail dress?
  • I think the fact that it's pink shifts it over into the the more girly than vintage category. If it were ivory or white, I would probably think otherwise.
  • I'm having a hard time picturing it on anybody.  So, please post pics once you get it.

  • I think it just really depends how it ends up looking on you. I saw the most gorgeous vintage wedding gown at an antique store here. I wanted to buy it so, so bad but to just wear for special occasions :)

Its too hard to see what you look like from your little pic
  • I agree with Cew. Julez dress is vintagey, this one would be cute for like a young girl to wear to prom, but I'm not sure I'm feeling it for a vintage type wedding.

I think it would look like you were trying too hard to be young, ya know?

But it's pretty accepted that I have no sense of style around here, so definitely get a second opinion. ;)

  • Ouch,  that's the last thing I want.  Well, I'll see just how pink it is and how it looks when it arrives.  If it doesn't work, I can return it within 7 days, so I may do just that.  Ah well - I have until July to find something nice; I may well be back in the market for a dress.  I wonder if Julez will let me borrow hers . . .
  • I think the pink is part of it, like CEW said.  And, the layers look. . . flouncy or something.  I don't know, I really just can't picure it on a person of any age right now.

  • Yeah, I don't know.

Poli comes to mind as a person who could potentially pull that off...

  • Nda, maybe.  Actually, the first thing that came to mind was Cinderella's step sisters, fastforward a hundred years.  Or curtains.

I REALLY don't want it to sound like I'm being mean.  I don't intend it that way.  It might look gorgeous on the OP.  But, my imagination isn't helping me get there.

  • I think it definitely has potential to be a gorgeous dress ON
  • No worries, squirrly, or anyone else.  Fi don't take ourselves too seriously.  I have the same reservations you've expressed, so while I may feel a little . . . deflated, I'm certainly not offended or think you're being mean.  I want honest opinions and I definitely don't want to look ridiculous on my wedding day!  I'll save that for the honeymoon.
  • I think it's adorable, but as others mention, I'd have to wait to give a final verdict when you've got it and have a picture of you in it. Make sure you do post a picture!
  • I love, love, LOVE it! I feel like a sassy woman with a strong sense of style could rock it beyond belief. I think it would look awesome with some modern touches, like d'orsay heels in a neutral color.

Looks like a great find! Please post pics as soon as you can :)
