So what is the proper Etiquette for the bar?

Proper etiquette is not making your guests pay. If you can afford a dry wedding, that's what you have. If you can afford sodas/juices/water plus wine and beer, do that. If you can afford to add a signature drink and want to add one, that's always a fun option. But the only important thing is that you host whatever it is you're offering rather than asking your guests to pay for part of your reception.

If you look at the thread helpfully entitled "bar etiquette" there are more opinions.

honestly, IMO, there is no expectation.  i always go to a wedding with some cash.  if its a cash bar i'm prepared, if its open, great, i drink 2x as much.

signature drinks are so david tutera.

Also, I don't actually like banana cake. That's why it was my example of a yucky cake. Someone can have my piece.
