save the date christmas cards

my STDs are vintage alice in wonderland illustrations and i was wondering if it would be ok to send them along with our christmas cards this year save on postage and all that. maybe even find vintage type christmas cards too? i dont know, just trying to save a dime or two

Re: save the date christmas cards

  • I agree with mrs. jesse that so few people send Christmas cards (in my circle) that it wouldn't get lost among cards.  I think finding vintage cards to match isn't necessary, but might look cute.

Do you have a picture of your STDs?  They sound neat!
  • I'm in the camp that you should wait until the first of the year to send STDs, when schedules have returned to normal.

We get tons of Christmas cards, and are traveling almost constantly during the holidays, so losing a STD in the shuffle would be a legitimate concern for me. If I received it after the first of the year, I would be sure to get it on the calendar.

  • I sent my STDs along with our Christmas cards, and I wouldn't do it again.  They got lost in the holiday shuffle, and many people didn't notice it was in there.  I would do a separate mailing in January.

  • We are also planning on doing this to save on the postage (we're on a pretty tight budget). I don't see anything wrong with it. It's my job to get it to people, once they recieve it, it 's their responsibiilty! Most of the people I'm inviting are close enough that they will be in contact with myself, my parents or FI's parents enough times between Christmas and the invitations to confirm the date anyways.
  • i think that for save the dates, its fine to include them with the christmas cards, but if it were an invitation, i would definitly wait until after the new year.

you can also hand deliver some of them at thanksgiving/christmas events.
