NER: Just have to get this off my chest...

My future mother-in-law is on Pinterest, and she has a wedding board. She is already married. Her daughter is already married. So that leaves her son, who will be marrying me. My parents are hosting the wedding, and my mom and I are planning it.

I looked at her Pinterest wedding board today and everything is burlap. Burlap flowers, burlap table runners, burlap burlap. OMG. It's one of my least favorite Pinterest trends and I am just praying she is thinking of this for her nephew's wedding.

We're getting married on the beach. There will be no burlap. None.

It's become like my own little inside joke when I see this stuff pop up on my FB newsfeed. I'm like "Dammit more BURLAP!"

<div>LMAO I'm just imagining flinging spoonfuls of bean dip at her while she's yelling "NO IT NEEDS MORE BURLAP!!!" Very satisfying image. But yeah, I think she's vicariously planning which is fine. Just keep that sh!t away from my nuptials.</div>

  • Does she know you follow her on pinterest? If so, she needs to learn how to make a secret board lol

  • also, I double dog dare you to bring actual bean dip to the next family get together
  • HAHA...flinging spoonfuls of bean dip at her.  My way of keeping everyone out of my wedding preferences, which are admittedly pretty weird (navy and hot pink, with mercury glass centerpieces and navy/white chevron napkins...), was to give my mother and MIL an item all their own.  I told my mom she can hands down pick out the cake design, and my MIL that she can choose the design of the save the dates.  I don't really care about save the dates, and the design of the cake can't possibly make chocolate any less delicious.

Maybe try that route if burlap starts coming up(chuck) at Sunday brunch...

  • Hopefully her save the date designs aren't on burlap :-)
  • They live about four hours away and I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing them until the bridal shower next month. We gave her total control over the rehearsal dinner, and if she wants to cover the whole restaurant dining room in burlap, that'll be fine. I'll cringe on the inside and laugh my head off about later, but that is her party to host. But the wedding? Negative. No burlap. I will burn it with FIRE. After I spread bean dip all over it.
