Dexter Finale anyone? (Spoilers inside)

SPOILER ALERT ****

Anyone watch it? I gotta admit, I kind of hated this season but kept watching hoping it would redeem itself. Even though it was totally predictable, I'm glad that Deb finally knows because it will set up something interesting for next season.

Also? Harrison is the cutest kid ever and OMG in the lion costume, my ovaries were cringing.

Re: Dexter Finale anyone? (Spoilers inside)

  • I've read the books, and Deb has known in the books for awhile too.

    Anyway, that's not relevant.

What I hated the most was that I KNEW he was faking being passed out on the roof, and I KNEW that Deb was going to go find Dexter at the church to tell him her feelings, and HELLO DID YOU REALLY HAVE TO GO THERE, GUYS?

  • I didn't know that, about the books, J! Interesting.

Yeah, it was a completely predictable finale. I mean, seriously? Dexter wouldn't normally set up a kill room in a place he was SENT TO GO by his job. That is just silly. Every step of the episode was obvious. I don't see why people are all OMFG about the ending. It's been coming for a while now. PLUS the producers are saying that this is a slow set up to the eventual series finale.

I think it's strange that she thinks she's in love with Dexter all of a sudden.  Maybe I'm blind but I just never saw that.  It seemed to me that when the psychologist planted the seed, it was over and she took it and ran with it.

Harrison is the most precious lion I've ever seen.

It frustrated me to no end that he KNEW where Marshall was going to be and was to stubborn to tell the damn police. He could have just shown them the drawing. I get that he wants to kill these guys but he allowed for another innocent to be killed, and it almost killed his son.

ETA: J I had no idea about the books...or that Deb was supposed to already know but that would make sense.
  • Harrison was so awkward looking last year, but he really has turned into the cutest kid.

I agree that it was like the lightbulb went on, and it made me mad.

And yes, this whole season has pissed me off in the "he knows, he should just tell the police, don't be so selfish damn it!" sense.

  • It didn't surprise me that they went there with Deb since they kind of had been alluding to it for a long time...but it made me mad because it is such an unnecessary plotline for a show that has potential to still be good. I'm so close to giving up on it because I feel like the past 2 seasons have been awful, but I love some of the actors too much, haha.

I think it is pretty within character of Dex to not tell the cops though, like he has done since season 1. I would've been surprised if he did tell them, TBH.

  • There are still 2 full seasons left but suppposedly this finale was the first step in the "end" of the show. I'm SO hoping Dexter gets caught by people that will care (since obviously Deb isn't gonna turn him in) in the end. I know that is kind of weird but I do.
    image
  • I agree on both counts, MuSu.  But for some reason, it really irritated me this season when it hasn't in the past.  I htink because in the past it hasn't been SO obvious--like he's figured it out from his own investigation, not from things he's found AT THE CRIME SCENE, you know?

<div>I understand why he doesn't tell them but it's really getting to me lately.  I mean, yes he saved the police from "Wormwood" but he knew about the girlfriend and again, didn't tell.  What if he hadn't looked up from his desk at the precise moment he did? Obviously it's TV show and they set it up to be this way but come on, he knew how dangerous it could be!</div>
  • Also? (Hah I keep rambling) I am hoping they tie up the weird loose ends they left with crazy intern dude. I mean, the hand was just left at Dex's house, so I hope that shows up in the first ep next season, because WTF?

I actually think it would the most appropriate ending if Dexter died at the end.

I don't want him to, because I want to do him, but it makes the most sense.

  • Yeah MuSu, I'm struggling to understand where the intern is going to fit in next season.
  • Yeah I agree that it is weird that he never told anyone, but I guess maybe that is supposed to be his character flaw? And sets up more interesting scenes? haha I don't know.

  • Speaking of the hand...

"Hi, I'm the babysitter, and I don't notice a random duffel bag, Cherios all over the floor, or a package on top of the fridge.  Then later, I sweep up the Cherios and don't say a word...even though there's no way Harrison could have gotten on top of the fridge, and I certainly didn't do it."

Yeah, that too. I think either getting caught & punished or dying is appropriate. Although I don't know if I'd want him to die by a serial killer/another murderer. I'd rather it be some tragic accident or something.
    image
  • I think the intern is going to be involved in the future...either as a victim, or as a killer.

hahah I thought this too. And oh just a random HUGE ASS KNIFE that wasn't here before and doesn't fit into Dexter's knife set...
    image
  • Also, I think it's hilarious that Marshall brought the package inside.  Because...no one will notice a package INSIDE that should have been outside?

  • Dude Dexter is HOT. mm.

I agree that the intern will be either killed or kill someone. I want to know what is in his effed up head though. I mean he's obviously got some issues. And I hope he doesn't kill the nanny because she's sweet and Angel doesn't need to go through that.
    image
  • I think it's weird that Dexter was married to Deb IRL and now that they are getting a divorce there is a love intrest between them...

The intern creeps me out.  The way he looks at Dexter, it's like he's crushin.

Lol i know, wtf? I'm guessing if they address it, which they probably will since Dex will likely see the hand when he comes home ... maybe he will assume that Travis opened it. Since he recognized him wearing his shirt (so maybe he will figure out he was in his house)?
    image
  • I didn't at any point feel like Harrison was in any real danger though. I didn't think the show had the balls to do something like that, so I wasn't even really worried.
    image
  • Maybe he'll try to kill her, and Angel will catch him, and be all "See, I told you so!" and then Angel will kill him himself and Dexter will kill Angel for killing the guy that he wanted to kill and Deb will kill Dexter because he wouldn't bang her and Quinn will kill himself and Deb because he still loved Deb, and the whole department will go down in fiery flames of crazy.

  • I can't quote you for some reason but omg J that would be a hilariously fantastic ending. I also first read it as "Angel will kill himself" and I was like wtf why? haha.

WAIT, they're getting a divorce?  HELLS YES.  I'm on my way!

(She's way too unattractive for him.  Yup.  And annoying.)

  • I think they got a divorce last year, or something. But yeah I found the timing ironic. The weird thing is that Dexter looks like he could be the older brother to my ex so it is kind of awkward that I find him attractive. But I guess kind of makes sense too.
    image
  • They need to get an actor with the cojones similar to John Lithgow in order to save this show from going further down, I think. He was the best villain they had.
