Party bus

I've been speaking with a vendor about the party bus we're going to use for our wedding day. I told my fiance last night I was going to book their 18 passenger bus (there's 16 of us) and he told me that wouldn't be enough. He thinks we should have all of the bridal party's sig others on the bus too when we go to take pictures. None of the weddings that I've been in have ever allowed me to bring my SO with me on the bus. I want to just get the smaller bus because A- it's cheaper and B- I think with more people, pictures will take more time and people will be more distracted. Am I wrong?

Re: Party bus

  • I've never been in or attended a wedding where the SOs rode in the transportation that the B&G provided. For one, usually the SOs will need to drive their car to the reception so their SO in the WP has a ride home. For two, I would think it would be very boring on an SO to sit around watching pictures be taken.

So if you go with the party bus, I'd get the smaller one.

  • Ditto PPs. As long as SOs are invited to the wedding and seated together, I think you're good.
  • I think it is OK for the WP people to be NOT be on the party bus ... like others have said, they will likely need to bring their other vehicle to the reception site and if it is for photos, having them around is distracting for the WP and boring as heck for the SOs.  I think this is one time where they can stand to be apart for the short time it takes to get from point A to point B, even if they stop for a few photos.

Is this before the ceremony or are you having a gap? When you have a gap and the SOs are on their own (particularly if they're OOT) it sucks a lot more.

  • It should be fine not to have them.  When FI was a BM a couple of years ago, a couple of us girlfriends all rode with one of the high school friends to the reception site....we all stopped for a beer in between so it was fun.  If SO knows no one, maybe try to see if you can help some carpooling connections if they are all staying at the same location.

I do agree on the gap thing. If the SOs are able to go straight to the reception/cocktail hour/whatever, then I don't think it's a huge deal to not have them on the party bus for pics. But if there is a gap and especially if they won't know anyone else there and have nothing to do in between, then I might consider having them come along.

  • I don't think you have to include SO's on the party bus, so I vote smaller bus.

If I was the SO of one of the WP members I would rather be eating some apps and drinking some wine during the cocktail hour then standing around watching pictures being taken, but that is just me :)

I agree. Even if there are OOT guests that don't know the area...I would get someone from my family/friends to make this person more at ease...it really doesn't take THAT long

[QUOTE]Honestly, I might get flamed for this, but I think it's fine to not include SO's. I'm saying this because that's how it worked out for us. All of our WP's SO's had to have their own rides to the ceremony, and then from there to the reception anyways, so the WP rode in the limo with us. Especially too if the transportation is going to take pictures. Having extra people around is distracting, atleast it was for us. I swear it took us 30 extra minutes to take pictures because we had to extra wrangle people away from chatting it up with random friends and family members who came to where we were taking pictures.

  • Well something I didn't even think about at all is that most of them will have children to tend to after the ceremony, so they wouldnt go on the bus anyway.
