Including Teens

If I'm asking a young teenager to be a reader in the wedding, do I ask her or her parents?  She is 13.  Should I talk to her parents first, in case there is some reason they might decline to allow her?  Thanks!

Re: Including Teens

  • I guess I would just mention it to her parents first, just to make sure there's nothing you haven't thought of as to why she wouldn't be able to do it.  Then still ask her.

  • we are asking a 16 and 18 year old. While we don't think they need their parents permission, we are going to let FI's aunt know that we are asking them before we do. I don't see any problems arising for us, but you never know!

  • I would mention it to the parents first, just to make sure they have no objections. You dont want to step on any toes with her being a minor. Than just ask them to please allow you to ask the child yourself if they approve. That way you get the honor of asking them to be a part of your special day.
