A gas question

(I promise this post won't be a downer)

We just found out (figured out? didn't notice?) that the stove in the house is run off of propane gas, not natural gas. Is this a big/expensive deal or no? Dh and I both love gas stoves over electric but have never dealt with propane gas.

Re: A gas question

  • I have no clue how they differ (well, other than the obvious!) but just had to say that I am jealous of your gas stove!
  • It depends on how much you use and how fast you use it. If it's just the stove, it should not be too expensive.

  • I love having a gas stove. I had always used electric growing up, then my first apartment in this area had gas. The first week I was terrified to use it because I thought I had to light it with a match. Then my mom came over and showed me how great it was and now I love it.
  • Gas stoves are awesome.

  • Ricks, its just the stove and everything else in the house is electric. Plus the tank and lines are already installed so we wouldn't have to pay for that.
  • So, you will only have to fill the tank then.. It takes my mom about 200 (depending on gas prices at the time) to fill her tank. If you only use gas for the stove, you shouldn't have to fill your tank for a long while.

  • DID YOU GET THE HOUSE??!!!

The house we are moving in to now has a gas stove, and I'm terrified!! Any tips?

Unfortunately, the whole house is gas, but they are telling me at the electric company our bills will be cheaper.

  • Whit, its still "in the process" but we're in the final phase now. Plus we may be able to roll the cost of building a kitchen into the total house loan which would be nice.
